  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 15, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) Maybe. Maybe I don't care what you think No need to make it personal dude.. I was addressing something that is ridiculous and unnecessary.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 15, 2017 -> 07:07 AM) It's been done here for years, if you start a gamethread and the team wins, you get to keep starting game threads until they lose Maybe something that juvenile should be discontinued.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) Asche is actually the MVP. Most Vilified Player.
  4. I thought Gonzo was just missing around the corners of the strike zone. Better that than missing inside the strike zone. Nice game and nice series win against Cleveland. One of the only points of consensus here seems to be that Renteria has been doing a great job thus far, especially in comparison to what his predecessor (did) for the last few years.
  5. I can't stand Benetti. I hope they move him to radio. Think of who could possibly to color commentary opposite Benetti after Stone leaves and who would even want to.
  6. Saladino made great plays at second last season and he just made another today...possibly a game saver. Moncada was not impressive at second base in Spring Training. Why mess with Saladino if he is excelling as a second basemen? Moncada's build reminds me more of Mike Trout - solid, muscle bound, with good straight line speed. If only Moncada could put on a center fielder's glove he could really fill in a huge hole in the outfield between Melky and Avi and, at the same time, add a left hand bat with pop in the line-up. Matt Davidson has been fun to watch at the plate, but unlike Avi, he has not missed too many meals. I don't understand how he got that big. The extra weight could really limit his usefulness. On the other hand, if he can get in better shape, he could be a force. Avi Garcia is a case in point. He runs like a gazelle this year compared to years past.
  7. " he flat out said he wanted the team sold after his death." Jerry has never said that the team was for sale and has not threatened a sale since the old days. His sons and daughter have never said what they would do with the Sox and Bulls when Jerry passes away. They could very well decide to make it a family legacy, like the Halas family has decided to do with the Bears. The value of the White Sox is in part dependent on the co-ownership of the Bulls, and vice-versa. Therefore, unless there is someone like a Mark Cuban who wants an MLB team and an NBA team, or to a Rocky Wirtz led group, the sale of either franchise on its own seems unlikely.
  8. Selling the team has started coming up, most directly the Trib article talking about JR telling his son to sell the team in the event of his death. The Sox ownership has not brought it up. Jerry Reinsdorf did not tell his sons (he has two sons and a daughter) to sell the White Sox . The comment that he made was about the difficulty of owning a baseball team versus a basketball team and if one were to be sold, which one would make it easier to maintain. Reinsdorf's sons and daughter have never commented on this nor should they. The Reinsdorf family have the unique luxury (and leverage) of owning two professional franchises in one of the largest cities in the United States, as well as a percentage of the media outlet that covers them. The Sox, one of the leagues oldest franchises, are not going anywhere and neither are the Reinsdorfs. I want to see the White Sox win another one for Jerry.
  9. IMO, Saladino might be the most underrated player on the team. Frazier and Salad are my favorite players on the team. Great game today. Homer calls for Cleveland's Opening Day and some bad luck here and there or we would have won.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 10:30 AM) Forbes came out today, whether they are accurate or not is always up for debate, but according to them, the team made a $41.9 million profit last year and is worth $1.35 billion. So can we forget any talk of them moving? The White Sox have never mentioned selling the team (or moving?) since Comiskey Park needed to be renovated or replaced. That doesn't stop cub fans from hoping that the Sox and their fans leave town.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 04:19 PM) Do. Not. Mess. With. Moncada. Jerking him around is the last thing we need. I don't see how simply asking Moncada to log a few games in the outfield in the minors to see if he could handle it would be jerking him around. Moncada's speed might be a bigger asset to the team at that position than it is at second base. I don't like the idea that any player, even a highly regarded young prospect, dictates where he wants to play to the team. I bet Saladino would try to play Center if the Sox asked him, especially if he had a shot to start out there. He has already offered to be the emergency catcher. That is the attitude that you have to admire in a player, a desire to do whatever will help the team the most.

Yea I know Moncada won't do it... but if he would try to play the outfield in the minors and it worked out, that would help the team more than he could as a second basemen. That would replace Jacob May with Moncada in the line-up and leave Salad in the line-up instead of putting him on the bench when Moncada comes up. Then send Yolmar to the minors or lose Asche or Leury and bring up a LH bat to platoon with Davidson at DH..,,Delmonico, Hayes or Rayburn. IMO, both Moncada and Delmonico would behoove themselves and the Sox if they put an outfield glove on down in the minors to see if they can handle it out there.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 12:30 PM) They are both kind of in the same bucket to me, former hyped prospects just hoping to stick now. It will get sorted out soon enough, sooner if Asche keeps going 0-fer Asche had a hit yesterday and has hit some balls hard. I am more concerned about May, who looks over matched, clueless, and weak at the plate.
  14. tray replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Bring up Delmonico or Hayes and send down a pitcher or send Jacob May to the minors. Even with Asche platooning in RF with Avi, Delmonico could DH against RH starting pitchers or pinch hit.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 05:34 PM) No, I didn't miss the point at all. I agree with your points Mark. The Sox need to play the game right, execute the fundamentals and try to win every game. If Jacob May is the best option in CF, they need to make a trade and get someone. I don't understand why they gave up on Bourjos. It seemed like he was the perfect stop gap and place holder for Tilson. Your thoughts?
  16. Yolmar Sanchez is our utility infielder. He stays until Moncada comes up. Jacob May needs to be sent down as soon as possible. Today would not be soon enough. The Sox need to bring up Delmonico or Hayes as a LH bat. That was a frustrating game to watch.
  17. Avi could be traded but that seems unlikely since he is only adding to his upside potential. Jacob May could be the first one to be sent down, then Asche. Moncada will be here in May and perhaps Tillerson will be here by June, but that seems to be an unknown at this point.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) They're probably going to be forced to replace May first...pretty clear he's not ready and getting thrown to the wolves. May looks over-matched and is likely on a relatively short leash. IMO, Leury Garcia should start in CF until Tilson comes up or the Sox come up with another solution in Center. I know May hasn't had too many chances, but, IMO, he looks like he doesn't have a clue at the plate. Maybe another week of two and maybe he will prove us wrong.
  19. I would like to have seen Jacob May take a pitch after two guys walked. Instead he weakly grounds out on the first pitch. I think Leury Garcia has to start in Center. I'm not sure May is ready for major league pitching. Perhaps Matt Davidson would have given the Sox a better shot in that situation or a Delmonico, if he was on the roster. May had no chance.
  20. Perhaps a counter thread for those who wish to express their delight over the Sox losing. You will never know if those who on that side of things truly expect the Sox to be the worst of 30 teams in hopes of getting Beer ,,,or if they are just plain Cub fans. That's kind of the way it is anyway.
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 04:29 AM) You are quickly becoming the new Greg... Wut lol.
  22. Went to the Opener and the ReOpener. Really disappointed in the game and in the Detroit fans who decided to come on our Opening Day. After all, they only have 80 Home games and another 15 or so more with the Sox at the Rate they can go to so who knows why those POS had to come to our Opening Day. My own thoughts: Tim Anderson should have made that play in the second inning on the one hopper. He took his eye off of it. That would have helped to stop the momentum and would have shortened the inning for Q. That is not to deny that Q got hit hard today. Don't know what to make of that. Jacob May's first game looked like Jacob May's first game. Not sure why the Sox let Bourjos go. May looked like an easy out for Verlander and K-Rod. Asche looked over matched at the plate. I would like to have had more LH power in the line-up today, perhaps Delmonico. Saladino is the man. he stays in the line-up even if Moncada comes up. Best food/beer combo was 35th St Tacos barbacoa tacos washed down with Landshark beer with lime and salted rim.
  23. I wonder if he could do play by play. If so move, give Benetti his walking papers. Let Steve Stone do the pre and post game analysis. Perhaps a tandem of Scotty Pods play-by-play with a color commentator like Geoff Blum or AJ.
  24. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 10:23 AM) Hold off another hour and they will pay you $6 to show up. LOL. Upper tank corner seats are always available. Lower level seats for the Opener have been sold out for some time.
