  1. I don't see how a 1 year, $3m (Latos-esque) contract can hurt us. This pretty much implies that Quintana is close to being dealt.
  2. Another name that could be targeted is Joc Pederson. Keep a look out for him.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) Cub fans think that Soler should bring back Wade Davis. Watch them deal Eloy Jimenez/Wilson Contreras. It would be hysterical. Cubs are desperate for an arm to replace Chapman, even though they won't show it.
  4. QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 06:35 PM) Joel Sherman ‏@Joelsherman1 13m13 minutes ago Short chat with #Whitesox owner Jerry Reinsdorf: "Boston knows what it got (Sale). We hope we know what we got." #Redsox Kind of a cryptic message from the chairman. JR, quit your whining, I know you are passionate and it's hard to admit defeat, but still. . You own the team and have failed to pony up for top free agents and settled for half-assed mid-tier win now moves for 11 straight years now. This would have been avoided if we started rebuilding after that horrific 2007 season where we had to deal with gems such as Jerry Owens, Andy Gonzalez, and Ryan Bukvich, oh and Josh Fields! Sure, we won the division in 2008, but it wasn't really beneficial in the grand scheme of things. Acquiring Junior? Yeah, that was a great sentimental gesture. Love him as a player and he's an extraordinary person. Yes we ended up giving up Nick Masset, so practically meh. Dwayne Wise, Brian Anderson? I am forever grateful for 2005, but we were lucky in 2005 & in 2008, especially scoring with TCQ. Jerry, this was long overdue. Case in point, if you want this team to be successful for the foreseeable future, shut up and let Hahn do his job, and maybe open up the pocketbook for Free Agents sometimes. You HAVE TO pay to play sometimes, Jerry. Can't always be cheap. /rant
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) This trade tells me the opposite. None of the guys they got today are ready. If they get a Swanson, Bregman, Benitdendi etc, yeah, maybe they are closer. Moncada and company probably is adding another year to this cycle. In all seriousness, Sox fans should just forget about competing in this decade. A lot depends on if we choose to compete in the 2018 market.
  6. QUOTE (Username @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:18 PM) Yep. Should have an absurd amount of flexibility for that crazy 2018 FA class, could speed the rebuild up dramatically and not lose any young talent. Correct. This is officially Hahn's team now, if we deal Q, Frazier, Melky, Robertson, and Eaton, it sets us up well for the '18 FA class with injecting our minor league system and incorporate some of the talent onto the MLB roster by then. Ladies and Gentlemen, hold onto your butts, the White Sox may be on the radar quicker than we think. Did I mention tanking for a year or two sets us up nicely for a top 5 pick?
  7. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:16 PM) the other thing to consider is how insanely low our payroll is going to be in a year Could be gearing up for 2018 to give JR one last final push.
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) Robles, Fedde, Lopez, and Severino for Q and Robertson? TRAE TURNER OR GTFO. But really, I would use the nationals again and hope the Astros or Dodgers swoop in and snag him. Easy.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) What does this exactly mean? The Sox aren't scared in trading him? No one is sacred... meaning no one is untouchable.
  10. QUOTE (buckweaver @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Puig. It's the double secret probation "Cuban Strategy." Sign all the Cubans and then move the team to Havana. Read it here first. Actually, though, I'm joking only about the sell. The Cuban players have a certain camaraderie/community that comes with shared experience. To offer a micro-community of several Cubans on one team could be a stroke of genius and go a long way to creating a wonderful chemistry. Could see Puig happening. ALL. THE. CUBANS.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:12 PM) He contradicts himself unless Abreu is supposed to go to Charlotte. Keep Moncada in the minors but have him develop a bond with Abreu. This. Thank you, DA. Abreu stays because of Moncada, IMO
  12. SELL SELL SELL. May be looking at a Verdugo esque package for Todd. Maybe it's a stretch, but why not try?
  13. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) So how about giving the credit to the guys who actually built up Boston's farm system? DD was handed plenty to work with. DD giveth, DD take it away.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) Sox also reached out to Derek Holland according to reports This would be a Sox move. Rehab & potentially flip/keep. Miguel Gonzalez, Humber, etc
  15. Good luck, Chris. This stings, but it needed to happen and I am perfectly ok with it. Go win a WS.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:03 PM) Thanks man. I didn't know him well but it's still extremely sad. He had his whole life in front of him and now it's gone in an instant. On a side note, would someone like to predict the White Sox top 10 prospect list now? Moncada has to be #1, right? It sucks. I had that happen a few times while I was at school, it was pretty eye-popping. On a lighter note, Pretty sure Moncada is the undisputed #1 And a mix of Collins/fulmer/Burdi/Kopech/Basabe/ Hansen for the top 7
  17. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) This has been a cruddy day. Not only was Sale traded, but I just found out a kid in one of my classes passed away after an accident. Holy hell. I am so sorry big guy. Hang in there buddy. My condolences.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:29 PM) And I do have to say I got a perverse joy out of the perception that Washington busted ass building a deal only for Boston to swoop in at the end to beat it. Payback for Edwin Jackson/Adam Dunno. Screw Rizzo. Now try and deal Q to them, but ask for the same package.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:28 PM) I can't help but being disappointed. It's not even about the return. It's the fact that the greatest pitcher in the history of the White Sox and my favorite player is no longer on the team. It stings, but unfortunately, it is for the greater good of the team.
  20. QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:26 PM) Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien 1m1 minute ago The Sale trade is likely only the beginning. #WhiteSox This has been long awaiting, almost in tears of joy that the Sox are finally starting a rebuild.
  21. Hold onto your butts everyone! This may be the ploy we needed for them to make Turner he centerpiece! Get it f*cking done, Hahn!
  22. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:30 AM) Rumors of the Nats trading Gio to the Yankees. Maybe Rizzo needs the prospects to complete the Sale trade. Wouldn't it be funny if they dealt Gio and we screwed them back for the supposive Edwin Jackson/Adam Dunn deal?
  23. Still think this is posturing in order for the Nats to give up Turner or the Braves to give Swanson, Astros Bregman, etc.
