QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:06 PM) Poor Alec Hansen started the day as a top ten prospect in the org, almost throws a no-hitter and now might drop out of top ten Imagine that. Our farm was terrible before the Moncada deal, now we may have the best farm in the league. This is a good situation to have.

Would be nuts if we somehow took on some of Panda's contract in order to get Groome or Chavis

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell

Would be ironic to see him go back to MIN where he started. Give up on him, he comes back with a rival, now you pay for him. I'm in favor of that idea. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 12:53 PM) Their top prospect Rafael Devers is a 3B, and was just promoted to AAA 2 hours ago. Correct. We shall see as it goes.

Them DFA'ing Sandoval may be a sign they are willing to make a move, but I've heard they really like Tzu-Wei Lin, whom they called up not too long ago. Don't know how much stock I put into that though. Frazier would benefit them well.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) The Sox should be willing to eat nearly all of Frazier's bill to improve the return. He may be talking about Panda, not Frazier.

Going to miss you, Flying Serpent. I'll still root for you, even if you are wearing blue. Do your thing Q, thank you for staying quiet and handling business. You were an honor to have wearing black & white.

QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) Getting the Brewers and Cubs involved would help his market quite a bit, as its hard to see an AL team biting right now. The Yankees are regressing hard and the Astros already have one of the best rotations in baseball. Hopefully the Barves rumors are true as well. I'd prefer him in the NL, obviously. Would be fun to watch Q in Milwaukee... I live about 10m from Miller Park and work downtown. I've been trying to explain to my buddies that want Sonny Gray to go for Quintana instead, he's really more value than Gray right now.

If Jose can put together 6-7 strong innings tonight, I think we see a deal very soon. Teams will be watching him closely.

Have a good feeling about Burger. I'm really hoping we get a Troy Glaus-Esque career from him. That would be outstanding. Minus the injury history, of course.

When the Sox are ready to contend in 2019/2020, who is the manager?
Soxnfins replied to soxfan49's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This may sound really crazy and out there, but Mark Buehrle may be our manager. Don't know why, but I have a feeling in my gut it'll be someone close to JR, if he still owns the team. -
Delvin Perez? I thought maybe a "wait and see" approach with Alex Reyes due to his TJS as well, but don't know how the Card would take to that offer.

Q will be fine. He usually has a bad start here and there, then has 4-5 solid ones. Personally, I think we should hold onto him for as long as we can to squeeze every last ounce of value he has, or else he stays. I'm seeing the positives of both sides; we keep him, he provides a TOR starter and great veteran leadership, at a more than reasonable (stealing) cost. He is a trooper and will not complain.. We trade him, we help stockpile the farm for the future. It's really a win-win either way for us, in my honest opinion.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 5, 2017 -> 08:07 AM) If I could merge the beer thread with the game thread when Derek Holland pitches what would I get ? Anyone remember Grolsch Beer ? Don't know if it still exists but it's slogan used to be " Nothing Less than Hollands Best". They still sell it here in WI.

I'll be there today sporting my Buehrle jersey & black sleeves with my black ray bans if anyone else is going to be there.
