  1. Living in the cornfields of NW Illinois, I can tell you that White Sox are whats in yr top shelf of yr dresser. In a city of 25K, there is hardly any Sox items in the stores at all. Nearly 100% cubs, I'd say the Brewers have more a presence than the Sox And to think the Sox had a great opportunity to build fanbase after 2005 and they totally dropped the ball ?
  2. OK thanks for the replies, much appreciated!
  3. I dont want to clog up the message boards anymore than needed, so to go off topic a bit, how much can I expect to pay to park at GRF? $25??
  4. I'll ck it out, thank you!!
  5. Not living near Chicago, when visiting used to love going to Ed Debevics for burger, fries and of course the rude service :). Anyway I assume its still closed correct? I did some researching and it look like there has been talk of re-opening possibly at another location. Anyone have any details? Gonna be at Sox game Sept 8 vs LAA and wanted to take my date there. If no Eds, is there another eatery w the same theme? thanks!
  6. With our luck he signs w the cubs and wins the Cy Young?
  7. I usually buy from Ticketmaster but I know there are others, can anyone suggest a website where the ancillary fees arent an arm and a leg? I havent been to a game in 10 yrs
  8. That makes sense as well, doesnt anything get lost in translation? I mean if the infielder (or even outfielders) can see the signals from the manager whats the use of having catcher do it again? I'm quite sure there good reason!!
  9. Question is regarding catchers signals, first one is when the catcher is standing up and directing his positional players he then proceeds to tap his shoulder or hips or waist, what is he indicating? Next when the manager signals to catcher then the catcher relays the signal to pitcher, why doesnt the pitcher simply get signal directly from the manager himself? is this so the catcher can override possibly what the manager is signaling? Or to confuse the opposing team as to which signal is being used? I know I've heard stories where a coach who is sitting away from the manager is really the one who is giving the signals deeking the team into looking at the manager. I was a catcher in Sandy Koufax league but obviously never did all this!!
  10. Way too soon to call the rebuild a bust, I say take our time and do it right. I'd endure up to 2 more yrs of this God awful baseball. I just dont like to see our fan base further eroding, maybe its hit rock bottom as it is, esp with the other team in town establishing themselves as a permanent force that will be good for a long time if not indefinitely. Where I live in the cornfields of northwest Illinois, the white sox are what is in yr top dresser drawer. Whenever I go to a HS football game, they always include the cub score when giving area football scores. Isnt there another team around?
  11. Me thinks the left is taking a chance with the logic is We have him, heres the smoking gun which may be true....the risk is if they dont have him, this whole thing will begin to wear thin on the sitting on the fence voters which may turn them further from the dems If he did break the law, he needs to be called out on it and pay the price. If not, trump has every reason to continue his accusations of a witch hunt
  12. 4 SO's for Moncada, hes looking like the cuban version of Gordon Beckham....if Kopech is a bust, I'd say we got fleeced by Boston and we should be looking at charging them with robbery
  13. My cub fans friends dont even banter w me anymore, like one told me its like teasing a handicapped person. You just dont do it.....I just get tired of being a punching bag for other teams.
  14. I cant recall who said this, maybe Dennis Miller before last election was "the best thing Hillary has going for her is Trump.....but the best thing Trump has going for him is Hillary Clinton"
  15. The Sox are 26th in attendance, and although the rebuild still in formulative time frame, still makes me wonder what will happen if this rebuild doesnt work? Say in 2022 we are still struggling and with the cubs resurgence taking generations of fans, would MLB even consider allowing our boys to move to a better market (if one exists)? The cubs have almost unlimited funds, a huge fan base to go with a trendy ball park, thier chances of missing the playoffs are about as good as us making them in coming yrs really has me a bit concerned with the Sox in Chicago as much as the naysayers say no way they would move. With Comiskey coming up on the big 30 in a few, I guess you cant say its too young a park to vacate.
  16. I thought I heard during broadcast all this was good natured ribbing on both sides, nothing more. Who knows
  17. I'm old school, give me an older gym like USA Gym, no air conditioning, some free weights and delve into the no pain no gain zone and I'm happy!
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) We could have a whole thread about individual experiences there. Thanks I feel better, I was starting to think I had convoluted thinking, now I know I'm not the lone ranger
  19. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) LOL. Slow learner, huh? Very! I don't want to make waves but you'd better agree with them or else!
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 12:36 PM) Welcome aboard! Thank you!!
  21. OK my first post on this fine site, I migrated over from WSI after some BS, so that being said, heres how I spun this thing: I work with a lot of women who were ecstatic the day after. I was asked in front of probably 8 other women what I thought of the game (which I did watch but very little) so I replied "the World series? Didn't see it, did I see somewhere the cubs won right?"....they were in dismay, I told them the forensic files were good that night .....so a few asked me if I watched any games and I replied maybe an inning on Sat PM The bottom line is that the opposite of love isn't hate, its being indifferent. I told them I didn't care if the cubs won, lost or moved to Japan. Then one woman said, he's a Sox fan, which I said I was had no rooting interest in a cub game. Then someone said who cares about the sox, yada yada which I can understand given our current circumstances. There are times not caring is much worse than hating. in all the relationships I've had, whenever an ex would say something hateful, I knew she was an eyelash away from coming back. But when she would say "I really don't care what you do or who you date" then I knew it was over. The perversion of human nature
