Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
I'm shocked the Bills tried to run for the 2 pt conversion with how easily they have been able to throw the ball against the Bears in the 2nd half.

And the awful offensive line play finally shows its face but Cutler has to hold on to the ball.

You have to love that the Bears are facing the worst run defense in the NFL and one of the worst run defenses in NFL history and Forte and Taylor have combined for 14 yards on 11 carries.

Cutler is doing a great job seeing the blitz and moving around in the pocket today. OLine hasn't been embarrassing although they still aren't doing a great job in pass protection (granted relative to the previous 7 games they look like world beaters) and they can't run block worth a damn.

I will say this, it is nice to be legitimately pissed about Illinois losing a football game again. First time in a while I can say that.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) Phew, my Hawkeyes lucked out a bit. Understatement. That IU WR is lucky he plays for a s***ty team at a basketball school. If he is a WR at a school like Bama he wouldn't be able to leave his home today.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 6, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) Great 2nd half. Both teams played better. Fun game to watch. As good as Vic Koenning has been as def coordinator at Illinois this year he did a pathetic job today. Michigan's offense is good but he didn't make a single adjustment the entire game today. Also, the lack of balls shown by Zook today on 4th down plays was disgusting. When you are doing whatever you want offensively and you have 4th and less than a yard to put the game away you f***ing go for it.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Nov 6, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) That was one of the worst personal foul calls I've ever seen. There was no late hit whatsoever. It wasn't even helmet to helmet or anything... Are SEC refs doing this game or something? lol Yeah, I didn't get that call at all. Not that our D is playing worth a damn and would have gotten a stop anyway. Also, Zook the f***ing moron has made a return today. How the hell do you not go for it on 4th and half yard against one of the worst defenses in the country who hasn't been able to stop your run game at all at the 22. Just incredibly stupid.

QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) Wait, you mean the Heat are crushing the Timberwolves? That is shocking information. Of course it isn't surprising. More a response to some of the ridiculous overreactions I saw after the Heat's first game. Not you or really anyone on this board but there were a lot of people calling them overrated after one game.

QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 06:40 PM) Time for loss #2 for Miami. More like Heat cruising to their 4th straight double digit victory. Except for the first half against Boston that team has looked awesome so far which really isn't surprising.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Oct 31, 2010 -> 09:50 AM) Definitely Darko over Carmelo was worst. Oden just hasn't been healthy, and if he were, he probably would be one of the top defensive players in basketball and a double-double machine. Still probably not as good as Durant whom I think is overrated (seriously he shoots 40 times a game, he is gonna score a lot and doesn't play D. LeBron is still the better of the two, and it's not close, IMO). But health has been the reason for the bad pick unlike the Darko pick where Darko was just a bust. I agree that LeBron is the best player in the NBA and its not that close but Durant isn't overrated. He scores a lot of points and he does so efficiently. It is laughable that you say he only scores because he takes a ton of shots when his TS% is .607 which is terrific for a perimeter player.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 30, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) Congrats to Tulsa. And yes, Brian Kelly is pathetic. I'm hearing that more of his highly ranked recruiting class is jumping ship, as he's always lost a handful of commits. I think they have had something like 4 decommitments in the last 2 weeks.

LET'S MAKE A LIST - OCTOBER '10
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 29, 2010 -> 02:12 PM) I actually expected Jaws to be higher than #5, but I'm glad it's right up there. It was my choice for #1 because of the effect it still has on me. I'm not scared of the water by any means, but I cannot going into any depth of water without the thought of a shark (or something) possibly being in there. That is thanks to Jaws. You know something gets to you when you think about it while in four feet of water in your backyard. Agreed. No other horror movie has had any type of lasting effect on me other then Jaws.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 28, 2010 -> 01:31 PM) Yup, its official Really good get. So out of the 9 top 100 kids from the state Illinois got 4 of them and they got 4 out of the 6 they had a chance at (Blackshear and Davis were never playing for Illinois since we won't pay for players, and Boatright wasn't going to the same school as Abrams). Shaw kind of falls into the Sam Thompson category of leaving you wanting more but he has tons of talent and the interesting thing with Shaw is when playing for his HS team De La Salle he looks like a top 25 type player but when he plays for the Mac Irvin Fire in AAU he is just a guy. But then again Meyers Leonard did nothing when he played with the Fire so I think the coaching staff has more to do with that then the player.

Michael O'Brien from the Sun-Times is stating that Shaw will choose Illinois today. What a huge kick in the nuts that would be if he turns out to be wrong.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 05:38 PM) Is Mike Davis going to stand in the way of playing time for Richmond and Leonard? Once the season starts the starters will be DMac, Richardson, Richmond, Davis and Tisdale. Leonard, Paul, Cole, Griffey and Head will see time off the bench. I think Bertrand is the odd man out for this year because no way do we play an 11 man rotation.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) Are you and Shaw neighbors? Has he told you that? I agree that Shaw goes to Illinois, but he definitely had plans to play with other guys he knows if he could have. Again, Shaw didn't play AAU ball with Randle and as far as I know Shaw isn't close friends with Randle and except for seeing each other at big events probably hasn't even had a ton of contact with him. Shaw on the other hand is incredibly familiar with Mycheal Henry, Tracy Abrams, Crandall Head, and Meyers Leonard. All of those guys were on the same AAU team last year and he is very good friends with Henry.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) Guess he sees more playing time out there. Curious what Shaw will do now. Shaw's decision has zero to do with Randle's decision. I can guarantee you that. I think Shaw winds up at Illinois because that is where all the smoke is coming from and I would have a mini meltdown if he goes elsewhere. If anything I think Randle picked today to announce because he knew Shaw was deciding tomorrow and that would greatly reduce the heat he gets from Illini fans.
