  1. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) Can somebody please help me? My email is flooded with messages from Sox Talk, notifying me that somebody has posted. In my control panel, it says that I am not subscribed to any forums, but under Topic Subscriptions, it seems like all the threads I have recently posted are on. I have tried to unsubscribe to all of these, but I keep getting new emails constantly. How can I turn this off? Do you use fast reply? If so, make sure that the box that says Enable email notification of replies is not checked.
  2. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) clutch? your telling kirk to be clutch ? stfu hes a rookie and has been pretty clutch IMO all year. we shud be lucky bulls are even playing right now. let alone winning. Kirk is not a rookie.
  3. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) So everyone else agrees that T-Mac is as good a defender as Kobe? I'd say Kobe is a little better, but T-Mac completely shut down Glen Robinson in the playoffs a few years back (when Robinson had averaged over 20 PPG) which is something Kobe never has done. Also, when they play against each other T-Mac does just as good of a job on Kobe as Kobe does on McGrady and that is from me watching the game not just numbers.
  4. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) It was stated before that Kobe locked up AI in the Finals. Kobe has a couple of all-defensive teams under his belt. I guess I'm wrong along with everyone who voted him in for it in multiple years. Kobe is the better defender at the guard position. Artest and Prince are SF's. Iverson averaged over 35 PPG in that series, hardly what I would call, locked up. Kobe did a good job on Iverson in that series but Derek Fisher was largely responsible for Iverson struggling somewhat as well. Iverson shot close to 41% from the field which is not much below is career average and is actually higher than his career playoff average. Bruce Bowen has made multiple all defensive teams as well including one when he played for Miami so your argument that he became a good defender when going to SA holds no weight. Also, all defensive team selections are often not a great indicator of how good someone is defensively. Shaq has made all defensive teams and he is not a good defender. He doesn't play good man to man defense and watching him try to defend a pick and roll is comical. Guys considered to be elite players get votes for all defensive teams whether or not they deserve it. Doug Christie was first team all defense one year and he has never been what I would call a great defensive player. And there is very little difference between a SG and SF defensively in the NBA.
  5. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) I dare you to come up with an opinion by watching a game instead of what you read on bbbbbb... Have you or have you not watched Kobe? Did you watch him when they were winning championships? I am seriously doubting you've paid attention to the NBA very long, especially with how young you are. I honestly think Kobe is a better defender than bowen. You don't. It's called having a difference in opinions. Grow up and realize that people are going to disagree with some of the s*** you come up with. Having to see you post "you don't know basketball if you think..." or "if you don't agree with me on..., you're not worth talking to" is getting old. And by the way, this is supposed to be a Bulls thread. I don't know how you manage to turn almost every basketball thread into an attack on whoever disagrees with you. Sad. :headshake Who has Kobe ever locked down? I remember him trying to guard Mike Bibby when they played the Kings and Bibby absolutely embarrasing him. I remember Hamilton having a good series against him last year. Bottom line is what wings did he have to lock down during their title run. Against the Kings Rick Fox would take Peja and Kobe would guard Christie who is not a good offensive player and Bibby who lit him up. The Blazers go to guy when they should have beaten the Lakers if it wasn't for the officiating was Rasheed Wallace. The team that the Lakers have had the most problems with, the Spurs didn't have a great perimeter scorer. Last year, Ginobili and Devin Brown both has quite a bit of success scoring. Not to mention Sprewell who had a big series against the Lakers in the Conference finals last year. Also, every time I have seen Kobe guard T-Mac, McGrady has lit him up. Is Kobe a bad defender, no. But I would not put him among the league elites. Bruce Bowen is a very good defender who always draws the opposing teams best wing and is a guy who annoys the hell out of everyone he guards. He is widely acknowledged as among the leagues best and causes guys a lot of problems because he is very sound with his technique on D and he plays real hard. Having Tim DUncan in the middle helps him some, but are you saying having Shaq in the middle didn't help Kobe then cause you can't have it both ways. I would also say that both Ron Artest and Tayshaun Prince are both much better defenders than Kobe Bryant as well. Prince made Bryant look bad over and over again in the playoffs last year and basically shut down everyone he guarded. You have to remember that it is impossible to shut down a great offensive player. Guys like Bowen, Prince, and Artest do a great job of severely limiting them however. I don't think Kobe has done that on a consistent basis. He has had his moments defensively and they just happen to be remembered more because he played for a winner.
  6. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Like the Twins? :rolly Not to mention the fact that he is a great pitcher come playoff time and has a history of pitching well against good teams.
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) OH MY f***ING GOD CLARETT JUST MADE THE FIRST DAY f***ING RETARDS Denver knows how to draft and develop running backs. This pick is extremely questionable but they do have a very good track record.
  8. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) Im not trying to argue that he is a bad player... its a risky pick, thats all im saying.. ^^^What he said. And boy do I hope he becomes a good player because I have little to no confidence in Gage, Wade, and Berrian.
  9. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) Too bad to be a YAC monster you have to catch the ball. Wait, does that mean those highlights were when they handed the ball off to him??? Stop crapping on the guy. He's making a transition(ala Boldin) and he'll be better than what we have at WR other than Mushin. He caught 34 passes in two years at Oklahoma. That is not a whole lot of production. He does have potential but he hasn't shown much of it on the field. And he isn't making a transition, he played WR throughout his entire college career.
  10. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) 4.42 in the 40-yard dash … 2.62 20-yard dash … 1.59 10-yard dash … 3.98 20-yard shuttle … 10.88 60-yard shuttle … 6.96 three-cone drill … 39½-inch vertical jump … 10-foot-8 broad jump … 31 3/8-inch arm length … 8 7/8-inch hands. 23 catches last year...7...SEVEN TDs on 23 grabs 20.1 YPC Look, I'm not saying the guy can't be a good player in the NFl, I just wouldn't expect it. I'm hopeful but this is a boom or bust pick. Plus, as someone mentioned he scored an 11 on the wonderlic test which is beyond awful.
  11. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) Yes he was also the 2nd option to a stud wideout. Actually he was their third option
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) When they showed Bradley's highlights etc he looked like a YAC monster. To bad he never catches the ball though. Edit: worded this wrong, referred to his lack of production rather than his hands, although he does seem to catch the ball with his body a lot
  13. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Good luck Roy Williams on your repeat. Illini Elite 8. UNC...NIT. I would gladly trade any possible success next year for a national championship.
  14. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) He is announcing his attentions to go pro as he should. If you are a lottery pick there are 0 reasons to stay in school. In fact even though I'm a huge Illinois fan I will go as far as to say I want Deron to go pro because its in his best interests. Good luck in the NBA Deron
  15. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) This is awesome news... a few weeks ago everyone in the chat room was saying he already had an agent lined up to sign as soon as the season was over.. This is great, hopefully he and Dee will return.. There is that chance.. although I think Dee is coming back either way, Deron is not such a lock to go as people had thought before! Deron should and will go pro. There is no reason for him to come back for his senior season. He hasn't signed an agent yet because he probably hasn't decided on one yet and wants to leave that 1% chance that he comes back open.
  16. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) Rowand had second stolen there except for Crede fouling off the 0-1 pitch. Not that it ended up mattering anyway. They shouldn't have risked having Rowand being thrown out and starting the next inning with Crede to begin with.
  17. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) Tiger Tiger Woods Ya'll! That chip shot at 16! That shot was incredible and probably just won him the Masters
  18. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) It's just April when you are on the verge of getting swept at home by your biggest rival. It almost sounds like something the Sox would have said over the last few years.
  19. QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) I just was reading through the entire thread, so I see now that Timo hits the HR no one is complaining about him being in the 5 hole He still sucks and he still shouldn't be hitting 5th but it happened to work out alright.
  20. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) Yeah wtf is up with him. At least today anyways he was missing spots and falling behind hitters on a consistent basis. Its hard to get guys out no matter how good your stuff is when that is the case. And it wasn't like the Red Sox were hitting the ball real hard against him. Plus, if A-Rod makes that play the Yankees are at worst tied going into the bottom of the 9th and that was a potential double play ball that would have ended the game.
  21. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) Nice constructive criticism. You get stuck with a bad english teacher??? A Final Four is nice, but unless you get a couple in a row or 3 in 4 or 5 years, you really can't get your program rolling. Does anyone think this team is going to make it that far next year with the losses of Powell, Luther and DeRon??? I certaintly don't. I'll give them an applause for making it that far, but at the end of the day, it won't do much for this program. That's not the sadness in me talking, it's the realism. I'd be surprised if the Illini start next year ranked in the top 10. I think Brock will replace Luther's scoring as he's 6-4/5 and is supposed to be known for his explosive scoring, but who's going to replace Powell and Deron?? I'm upset, and I was nearly in tears after the game tonight. But your post was a joke. I know you are venting, but to say you can't give a team that went 37-2 and was basically one of those wide open threes away from winning a title any props is ridiculous.
  22. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) So would one not be able to say they have a pretty nice player "coming in" next year that doesn't show up on the recruiting lists?? Plus they are adding Marcus Arnold who was a solid player at ISU, Brock who was the Sun Times player of the year who redshirted and Brian Randle who also redshirted.
  23. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) Did Shaun Pruitt become a terrible player overnight? Have the Illini given up on him? He wasn't ready to play this year, but he does have nice size and athleticism as well as a nice touch around the hoop. I think by his junior year he could be an all big 10 performer.
  24. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) Absolutely true. They are only ahead of MSU and Northwestern in recruiting in the Big Ten. They're all the way at 132 overall in the nation. Hell, Tim Floyd probably has a better recruiting class at USC than the Illini have. I don't remember the last time a losing team in the championship game getting blue chipper recruits in the next 2 years that wasn't already a huge program. I honestly, don't see Illinois getting better recruits than they did when they had Lon Kruger there. Lon Krueger brought in higher rated recruits than Bill Self. 3 McDonald's AA for Krueger, only 1 for Self.
  25. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) your right! anyone who doubts this go to rivals .com and see how our recruiting goes! Because recruiting rankings are always right. Signed, Shavlik Randolph Charles Jackson amd Jamar Smith will be good players
