  1. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) Right. I can't imagine another year under a third rate coach is going to help his draft stock at all. I don't think the coach matters for a guy like Porter. The bigger issue is back injuries often are long term issues and if he has any flare ups next year you are no longer going to have teams being willing to take a flyer on you early.
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 02:31 PM) If he is a top 5 pick he has to enter draft right away. Too much risk for not enough gain. Honestly, if he is a lottery pick he has to go pro still. There is way too much risk to going back to Missouri coming off a serious back injury if he is still going to be picked high.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) True, but if he works out and people say he looks okay, you go. If not, poor kid. Basketball has those handful of cases where star loses their career to injury. But largely I like the sport because it's not debilitated by star injuries each year. Can't imagine the pain of losing it all right as it's about to begin. Agree with this, really sucks for Porter but I'm guessing as long as he looks ok in workouts he is still a top 10 pick. Sure he might not go top 3 but someone will take a chance on that talent early like the 76ers did with Embiid a few years back. I'm sure he will still do quite well for himself in the draft next year, he just won't be competing with Bagley, Ayton and Doncic for #1 but I bet he still goes right after those guys.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) But that said this issue is one thing but really it's the horrendous guard play I can't take. The bulls strength is definitely their bigs but their entire offense seems to be their guards trying to do pull up 3s early in the shot clock. I haven't watched a ton this year because with Lavine out the only interesting Bulls player is Markkanen but the guard play is just painful to watch every time I do tune in. None of Valentine, Dunn, Holiday, Grant or Zipser have any offensive ability.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 01:25 PM) It might take him a while to get in. He has the postseason moments, but he's way more of a longevity guy than all-time great. One top 5 MVP finish, only two top 10 finishes. He was never close to the best player in the league at any point. He was pretty damn close in 2006 (if he wasn't the best). He was easily better than Ryan Howard who won the MVP that year).
  6. Trubisky doesn't have anything to work with but his accuracy has been much worse than I expected so far.
  7. http://deadline.com/2017/11/star-wars-new-...edi-1202204843/ Rian Johnson (director of Episode VIII) is writing and directing a new Star Wars trilogy that is not connected to the main saga. I'm excited about this because I think he is talented and I'm happy they are expanding the universe outside of the main saga on film (Rogue One and the Han Solo movie are pretty damn connected to the main saga) and this also means that Disney/Lucasfilm are really happy with how Episode VIII turned out.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) The bulls may end up being watchable enough. Markkanen/Nwaba/Dunn/Lopez all do either exciting (first 2) or highly competent stuff (latter 2). But the long stretches of Holliday/Grant just taking early jump shots are brutal. Maybe Levine cuts down ont hat because he may be the only bulls player capable of going to rim. Kris Dunn has been absolutely dreadful so far. I'm not seeing anything competent out of him.
  9. That really f***ing sucks. He is so fun to watch and he looked like a superstar in the making. Just brutal.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) The Pats got a high 2nd round draft pick for a guy who was gonna be an unrestricted free agent and they had zero chance of re-signing or franchise tagging. If Jimmy G is a stud or Father Time catches up with Brady sooner, then it will look bad. But as of right now, I don't see how you can say they lost the trade already. Jimmy G is a question mark and Brady is cruising along. Agreed. If Brady really intends to play until 45 like he keeps saying and he actually stays healthy they weren't going to be able to keep Garoppolo long term anyways (and Garoppolo would be in his 30s at the time Brady was ready to retire).
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) Pats lost this deal already. Everyone thinks everything the Pats does is gold but it really isn't true. Tom Brady covers up a lot. They have busted on some large FA signings and the Chandler Jones trade was no bueno. Eh, the Chandler Jones deal wasn't amazing but they were pretty certain they weren't going to be able to sign Jones after last season, still won the Super Bowl, Joe Thuney looks like he will be a really good starting guard for the Patriots for a long time and Macolm Mitchell was a decent WR as a rookie last year and had a good game in the Super Bowl.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2017 -> 10:40 AM) Hell Tom Brady didn't start at all in college, and look at him. He started his entire JR and SR years.
  13. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) Maybe so. Simeon is down too but you get run the risk of alienating them. What if you do this and then you don't land the MIF guys? This probably doesn't bother me as much as most. I love THT's game so it really sucks to lose him and you never want to burn bridges with a power program in the state but at least for the next few years it doesn't look like Simeon has anyone that special on their roster and Illinois hasn't gotten an impact player from Simeon since the 90s.
  14. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) Ayo must HATE THT. There is no reason or logic to this. Brad and staff just let Ayo dictate things, will see how that works out now. I have such a love/hate relationship with recruiting, wish I could stop following it. I wouldn't assume this is an Ayo/THT thing. Seems like it is coming more from the Mac Irvin Fire and people in Ayo's camp. Ultimately, Ayo has ties to Okoro and the MIF will play a huge role in the Whitney and Miller recruitments. If you land those guys this is all forgotten. If you don't this was a huge mistake, not because Ayo isn't great but because you will have let the Fire dictate another recruitment with nothing to show for it long term.
  15. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 09:25 PM) The NFL is on a roll this year. Can you imagine if regular people acted in these ways at their jobs? Like our president?
  16. QUOTE (Wanne @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 04:45 PM) yeah...those are called Slide Fires...and honestly I think they should be banned and I'm as pro gun as there is. Actually those Slide Fires are ridiculously hard to use...much less from that distance...so he sure must have done some real practice. I've shot them a handful of times and quite honestly think they're idiotic and very hard to control. But besides his Slid Fire...if he had modified semi autos to fire fully auto...he's no longer a law-abiding citizen. This entire story seems extremely odd besides simply being tragic. I'm not one to ever just subscribe to Occam's Razor...but this entire event makes absolutely zero sense from so many angles to simply say "someone snapped". It really does no good going back and forth with these arguments because nothing short of complete banning and confiscation would satisfy the anti gun masses...and that's just plain not going to happen. I'm all for common sense gun laws...but not everyone is going to be happy. Has Illinois' ridiculously strict gun laws prevented gun violence?.... This argument is so f***ing dumb. I can't believe people still believe that myth. A state law isn't going to do a damn thing when every surrounding state doesn't restrict gun ownership and Illinois' laws aren't particularly strict on gun ownership either. Also, if we are going to play that game, I believe Louisiana and Missouri are known for having lax gun laws. You may want to check out St. Louis and New Orleans' murder rates. Hint: They are substantially higher than Chicago.
  17. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 10:54 PM) I am a gun owner. With that being said there has to be limits. First of all if you want to own a gun you should go through a rigorous background check. You should also be required to go through a gun safety class. I don't see why anyone needs an assault rifle. I find it interesting that hunters need things like silencers for hunting. You don't need an AR15 with an large scope, laser site and a silencer to kill a deer. Not everything is a video game. The next part of this is people caught with assault rifles in the commission of a crime should automatically get a multiplier on their sentence. One thing we fail at is the proper enforcement of gun laws. Agree with all of this and I'll go as far as to say that anyone who continues to fight against laws restricting background checks, limits on the mentally ill getting guns or bans on how powered rifles legitimately have blood on their hands. It is absurd how easy it is to get these types of weapons in this country and I'm sick of hearing we can't do anything about it. We have already made cuts that certain weapons cannot be held by citizens, we certainly have the ability to further restrict gun ownership but we choose not to because our politicians are bought by a bunch of terrible people from the NRA. We don't have a mental health issue that is unique to America. The unique American issue vs. other first world countries is our gun culture and how easy it is to obtain weapons here. Oh and let me also say that the 2nd amendment argument is bulls*** for allowing weapons like this to be in civilian's hands. We have grown and evolved as a society. The founders were ok with slavery, but we got rid of that. I'm sure the founders never envisioned people would have weapons that could kill 50+ people and injure hundreds in a matter of minutes.
  18. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) I suppose, but again that's not really his MO. He could care less what people think about him and he acts accordingly. Considering his reactions to people who criticize him I believe Trump cares a lot about what people think about him.
  19. Well as everyone in the world expected that was a complete ass kicking. Not a single competitive round after the first 3 when it didn't even seem like Mayweather was trying.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 07:08 PM) Agree with everything you said. I can't figure out why Ainge does this but doesn't make the move for Butler (who would have put them ahead of Cleveland in the East). This seemed more lateral, albeit a year from now, Boston is positioned to be the best team in the east (presuming LBJ ends up in the west) and at that point I do like Irving for them (I just can't see giving up the Nets pick + Crowder). I actually think Cleveland stays about as good, since they have Lebron and Crowder is a solid player who gives them more depth and takes some pressure of LBJ. It isn't like IT is a scrub, he has his defensive flaws, but he's a pretty damn good player (albeit, the hip issue is a concern). Cleveland must have had some other pretty good offers on the table for Kyrie. Thomas isn't any worse defensively than Kyrie.
  21. What a f***ing terrible trade by Ainge. What a disastrous use of all those picks by him now.
  22. I love that the Iron Fleet is apparently able to teleport. It makes things really nice for the Lannisters.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 05:48 PM) JD Martinez to DBacks for 3 middling prospects. Insane to me that the Tigers couldn't do better than that even with Martinez just being a rental.
  24. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) There's thought that he won't be needed now that they have Dunn. Also, because he is f***ing terrible.
  25. I think I would slightly favor the Braves to the Sox but it is really close now and the Sox should add some more pieces by the end of July.
