  1. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:12 PM) I figure it really doesn't matter during this rebuild. I fully expect an uninspiring stopgap. Wellington Castillo would be a nice grab though. Hope he rebuilds some value, and flip him at the deadline. During the rebuild we should prioritizing a catcher that pitchers like throwing to as you try to develop young arms.
  2. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:07 AM) Would anyone do Q for Clint Frazier & Torres? Yes, Torres is going to be a top 5 prospect in baseball. I really don't think the Yankees will be selling their farm right now though.
  3. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 05:52 PM) Or acquire extra money to go all in on Otani next winter. I doubt Otani comes over if the cap applies to him which it sounds like he will. I bet he waits till he is 25 to come over and then signs a multi hundred million dollar deal.
  4. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:54 PM) Red Sox are paying all of the money left on Moncada's deal. $31.5 mil. I absolutely hate this if it cost the Sox additional prospects coming back.
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) Verdugo/Calhoun and Alvarez? You aren't getting 2 top 100 prospects for a year of a declining Frazier.
  6. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) Wouldn't mind moving Frazier for Devers now. Literally zero chance that the Red Sox would do that.
  7. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) Would've rather taken Moncada/Devers/Groome over Moncada/Kopech/Basabe/Diaz That's nice. And I'm sure if the Sox could have gotten that they would have too.
  8. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) Yeah, I doubt that Boston will trade Benintendi after the way that he played down the stretch. I'd be happy with Bradley, Moncada, Kopech, Devers, and a lesser minor-league outfielder for Sale and Melky. That would address CF and 3B through 2020. Why on earth would Boston do that?
  9. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) Is there any way of getting JBJ and Moncada as part of a package or is that too much? Maybe JBJ, Moncada, Swihart, and low A filler or two? I don't think you can get both but if you I'd be shocked if there were any other pieces of value in that deal.
  10. +This is so frustrating, the 49ers f***ing suck.
  11. Ohio State got two big breaks from the refs in OT. Obvious pass interference on Michigan's 3rd down play overturned and I really don't think Barrett got that first down.
  12. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) Yes, losing to Winthrop is bad. No, it's not catastrophic. Margin of error gets a lot thinner. Need to win at least 2 of the next 4, and ideally 3 of the next 4, and Illinois is still ok. Honestly, it just doesn't matter until Groce is fired. Illinois loves employing coaches too long. It is absolutely absurd that Weber and Groce will have been the coach of Illinois for the last 14 years (I'm just going to assume that this will be Groce's last year) and their combined high water mark for a team that wasn't gift wrapped with so much talent that just about anyone could win with is Weber's 2008-2009 season where Illinois twice failed to score 40 points. Awesome.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 11:52 AM) Non throwing shoulder or throwing shoulder? Tough injury. Reports are throwing shoulder
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) That Tilmon LOI won't mean much. Groce sold his soul for this year and still is a disgrace Ten years ago I would have been a wreck if Illinois had the drama they had surrounding Tilmon's LOI. Now i didn't even care since until Groce is fired whatever happens with the program is pretty much irrelevant. Thank you Ron Guenther, Mike Thomas, Bruce Weber, and John Groce for all being ridiculously incompetent and destroying Illinois basketball. I'm sadly not even upset by losses like tonight's anymore. Program has been garbage for 11 years now. There is a solid chance we miss the tournament for the 4th consecutive year. We missed the tourney 3 out of Weber's last 5 years so we are probably going to have been in the tourney 3 times in the last 10 years. And if you go back to the season before the last 10 that team was probably one coin flip game from being out of the tourney. It is simply absurd how incompetent Weber was with what he took over and Thomas managed to hire an even worse coach which is pathetic (he somehow managed to replace two incompetent coaches with even more incompetent coaches).
  15. So Jay Cutler may have suffered a season ending shoulder injury. This team will be funny bad the rest of the year.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) I think you got your info from 247 who has incomplete data because their site didn't exist back then. Brandon Paul and DJ Richardson for example, were top 50 recruits. #35 and #49 RSCI respectively. That was 3 top 15 years classes in Weber's in his final 4 years. Anyways, my point is not what Weber left (irrelevant talking about Groce's 6th year), it's that Groce isn't even recruiting at a level above him, which we hired him to do and that this type of talent isn't somehow unique for use, even compared to the Weber years. Yep, it looked like early on Groce was going to recruit at a much higher level than Weber and that was what excited me about him but that just hasn't happened. Basically everything looked great with Groce up until the Snyder/Cliff fiasco. Since then recruiting has been fine but not good enough given that Groce has shown he isn't going to win big without superior talent.
  17. Groce has to be fired if he misses the tournament again and he should be fired even if they make the tournament but all they do is sneak in. You don't keep coaches once you know they aren't the right guy.
  18. This is also about the worst I've ever seen Brooks play.
  19. Michael Bradley is completely done. He is just horrendous now.
  20. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 09:54 PM) Could Abreu and Nate Jones bring back Bregman in a trade with Houston? Probably not huh? Hahahahahahahahahaahhahahahah. No
  21. So Donald Trump's proposed tax plan does basically nothing to help the middle class, hurts some of the upper middle class and helps the super rich. I can't wait till we hear more about all of his policies that will actually help the middle and working class.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) More than third party votes, or votes for the wrong party, if all of the people who didn't vote at all in this election all came out and voted for one completely different person, that person would be President today. I've also always wondered if the president was elected by popular vote if that would drive up voting (because people in states that are non-competitive would be more likely to vote), drive voting down (with people rationalizing it as how much does my vote matter if it is one of 100 million plus which would be nonsense when you look at how close the popular vote was this year), or if we would be stuck in about the same range.
