  1. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:45 AM) Or Rutherford is this years Courtney Hawkins. I am not trading all star caliber players for HS guys with less than a full season under their belt. Sure if they give up Torres, I would take Rutehrford as a secondary piece as long as their is something like Acevedo and Torrens in the deal as well. Hawkins was "tools" guy and "a football player". Rutherford is a baseball player and going to be a hitter, just like Collins should be. I'm not suggesting to trade Q for Rutherford as the headliner. Just saying to ignore a player's talent because of his age or draft year is absurd and ignorant. Get the best players we can. Not the closest to the Majors.
  2. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2016/12/6/1...abe-victor-diaz Here's Sickels' take on the trade. He's very high on Kopech.
  3. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) I really want no HS kid drafted this year as a major part of any deal the Sox work out. If you add them in as a throw in, thats fine. Lets get them a track record in pro ball and make sure their abilities match their high school mix tapes before rolling the dice. High draft picks, especially HS draft picks have a ridiculous bust rate. So as much as I would have liked someone like Rogers, Pint, Perez, or Rutherford in the draft, I want no part of them right now unless it is as a throw in. This is ridiculous. Its going to be a long rebuild process. Go get the most talented prospects, period. If Yankees won't give up Torres or Frazier, Rutherford is the next best thing, IMO. The dude is going to rake. Here's Sickels' Yankees prospect list that just dropped: http://www.minorleagueball.com/2016/12/6/1...spects-for-2017
  4. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:20 AM) Wow what position is he expected to play? Rosenthal says OF and 1B.
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) If we trade Rodon, I don't want teams to look at his numbers and be turned off. We all know he's a better pitcher than what the numbers show, so if we're gonna trade him (which I don't think we should), we might as well wait at least until 7/31/17 so that he can build up his value. This
  6. QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:03 AM) Not to mention Alec Hansen...and Burdi...the Sox are amassing some serious power arms. Spencer Adams is still getting lost in this too. Not a power pitcher but he has a high ceiling and controls the zone very well for his age.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:01 AM) Dude definitely is no stranger to working out. Check out his instagram. Sheesh the kid is a physical freak.
  8. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:11 AM) Is that a quote of what he said? I was just relaying what another poster said last night. Supposedly he said it on a radio show.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:24 AM) Like Steve said, I expect something done today as well. I'm honestly liking the Nats package better than what the Astros can offer. If Passan is right and Q is getting 95% of what Sale was getting, add on Robertson, Nats could be the landing spot and higher ceiling guys. Q and Robertson for Giolito, Robles, Severino, and one of Fedde/Lopez/Kieboom. As a full package, I have to agree I like that Nats more. But out of Astros and Nats the player I like the most is Kyle Tucker - regardless of current top 100 prospect rankings compared to Robles and Giolito
  10. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:22 AM) Preston or Kyle tucker? And I like the thought of Cameron over Tucker. Kyle. Ewwwwww. Why? Tucker is going to straight up mash from the left side. Some of the best hit tool in the Minors with developing power.
  11. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:14 AM) It seems like the Astros and Quintana are the perfect match. I wouldn't be surprised to see a deal made today. Outside of Bregman (assuming we can't pry him away), what kind of return package would you guys like to see? Tucker and Reed need to be in it.
  12. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:53 PM) Whew! That's a relief. I naturally assumed that the front office f***ed up another decision. And yeah, BR is great, but the contracts section doesn't load on my cell phone. Click on 'Full' as in full profile and it shows service time as part of his profile info.
  13. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:50 PM) Well, FWIW, Boston Internet seems to think it was a fair trade or an overpay. Lots of worries about Sale's health and pitching in Fenway. I'm starting to think it makes sense to keep Q, unless they get a similar package for him. Passan said that 95% of what we got for Sale is being offered for Q, FWIW.
  14. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:46 PM) Are you sure? I thought that the stupid front office brought Rodon up before the service time cutoff in 2015. I ask, because I can't find a link to conclusively state that it will be 5 rather than 4 years of control. Baseball Reference, dawg. Player pages show service time. He has 5 years of control left. He was brought up in 2015 after the threshold for a year of service time by a few days, IIRC.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:33 PM) Makes me think they've given up on a blockbuster with the Sox if they are trying to get Davis at the last minute. Supposedly Soler for Wade D is close. Balls' in your court, Mike Rizzo.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) What's making me comfortable with this deal is that a lot of the pundits love this deal for both sides. That's what makes me nervous about it. This was a trade we were supposed to "win no matter what". It being called fair has me skeptical.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:22 PM) Yeah, it sounds as though he was not someone they were willing to give up... Sounds like DD preferred to keep Benintendi/Devers over Moncada/Kopech. Definitely a DD leak a few weeks ago that they wouldn't part with Moncada/Kopech in any deal. So I think your theory is correct.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) Our Sox might have just liked Moncada more, doesn't mean the bosox liked Beni more. From what I understand the WSox asked for Benintendi first and were told no.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:15 PM) Yeah, I actually feel good about him. It's Moncada...after reading 9 pages of SoSH I am now convinced he is the next Andy Marte. Yeah, if I had my choice, I'd rather have Benintendi. But not disappointed with the concensus #1 prospect in the game. Benintendi feels like a prospect even the worst developmental teams wouldn't be able to ruin. Moncada on the other hand....very ruinable by the Sox.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) I just read the Boston perspective ala SoSH and of course they were dismissing Moncada and Kopech as lottery tickets, but seemed to think Devers, Swihart and Groom are locks to be perennial all stars. Bottom line is there is certainly more risk on the White Sox side of things, however, the White Sox obviously get a high potential reward as well. The most interesting thing is while both of these prospects have HIGH ceilings, they also have some low floors. Here's hoping it works out. I'm not a scout, just a fan, but I really, really love Kopech and think he can be an ace if he can smooth out his command like Rodon did this year. I said earlier today I think he's better than Giolito and I truly believe that. Just filthy stuff. High risk but the Verlander/Syndergaard comps are valid.
  21. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=cws For anyone who hasn't seen our updated top 30 by Pipeline, here it is. Much sexier.
  22. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:39 PM) I really don't know what to expect in a return for Quintana If rumors are true of teams offering 95% of what we got for Sale, probably Giolito + Robles and lesser back end pieces. Alternatively Giolito OR Robles with much better depth pieces. I'd pray for an AJ Reed/Kyle Tucker++ personally
