  1. They took a chance on him without any risk. Who cares? And: Please respect the hot take free safe space that is the minor league gamethread.
  2. I still think Palka would have been able to outproduce Alonso, Reed and Skole. Not that’s very difficult to do. ?
  3. Pineda won’t know what hit him when he has to face two righties in a row, twice. Rest of the league is playing checkers while Ricky is playing some 4D chess.
  4. Boras is a genius, driving up the price MONTHS after the contract is signed.
  5. Rendon would be a pretty great 1B defensively and his bat more than plays there. Could be an option, even though you wouldn‘t maximize his value as a 1B. The likelihood of that happening is llike the Sox winning the division this yer though.
  6. How many suitors will Castellanos realistically have? The Cubs are in payroll hell and won’t be able to afford him. How many NL teams in general will put up with his defensive shortcomings? How many AL teams ready to contend need a DH? I see Castellanos signing in the 4/60 to 5/75 range.
  7. Obviosuly not, but you are basing this on a flawed premise that calling them up right now would guarantee a playoff spot.
  8. Next year won’t be that year. They could win the division with some good fortune, but it’s pretty obvious that 2021 is the year when they are really going to go for it.
  9. Kopech spending 8 weeks in AAA isn’t going to make or break the rebuild. this is ridiculous. If they sign a veteran swingman like Nova, they get some competent innings and let Kopech build up his arm without having to worry about taxing the bullpen.
  10. Using him in the bullpen would be the worst thing they could do. You would be losing a year of service time for him to provide maybe half a win if he’s lights out.
  11. Why would it be beyond dumb to start Kopech in AAA. Dude won’t have faced hitters for 18 months at that point.
  12. There is also the possibility of Archer becoming a FA, would love him on the team if they are going to sign 2 pitchers.
  13. So they are a decade behind the Reds, Rockies, DBacks, Royals just to name a few? That is a take based on absolutely nothing.
  14. It’s fascinating how quick you are to form narratives in your head. The Sox aren’t the Astros or Rays, but to jump to that kind of conclusion is just amazing.
  15. Yolmer shouldn’t get more than $2m and for that kind of money I am not opposed to bringing him back. $6m though gets you a decent middle reliever which the Sox definitely need more than a utility infielder.
  16. A 30 HR season for the the guy with 30 grade power, it’s like poetry it rhymes.
  17. Allard was a nice get for them, but he had lost most of his prospect shine. They bought low on him.
  18. Him and Yelich being on pace to hit 50, despite being like 150th in avg hr distance.
  19. Jimmy Cordero with an idea where his pitches are going is a pretty interesting arm with long term control
  20. I never loved Calhoun as a prospect, I don’t think he will be an .800+ OPS bat long term, but maybe it‘s just my bias against him. IIRC he was brought up a lot in past trade proposals here and I never liked him
  21. I don’t think his bat plays as a DH which he pretty much is. Weren’t the Dodgers trying him at 2b?
  22. That throw actually wasn’t that bad, Tim has to get to the bag. still, he probably should have hung on to it.
  23. The Sox lineup might be mediocre at best, but they absolutely lit up Lynn last night, these kind of games just happen.
  24. Reyes is a DH with huge power with 5 years of control,. You seriously think Puig as a rental has more value to be the centerpiece of that trade?
