As weird/bad as the Fedde trade was, I still wouldn't have been happy with what Baltimore sent to Miami.

And the third team gets Crochet and Mason Adams but doesn't give anyone up.

I still don't understand what the Dodgers were doing. Apparently 12 teams were interested in Fedde. They could have swapped another team in for Cardinals and gotten more than Edman.

So we kind of traded Fedde straight up for Michael Busch and then Pham, Kopech for two young single A players?

I'm not following. Dodgers traded Vargas and two single A prospects for Erick Fedde, Tommy Pham, and Kopech (Bad for Sox!) Dodgers traded Fedde and Pham for Edman (Bad for Dodgers!).

It just doesn't make sense that the Dodgers essentially traded Fedde and Pham for Edman. Getz may be a moron but Andrew Friedman sure as hell isn't.

It doesn't even make sense from the Dodgers POV. If STL isn't giving anything up besides Edman but getting the best guy in the trade, LAD look like fools too. They could have gotten Fedde and Pham and flipped them for someone like Edman.

Bruce Levine naming other dudes named Vargas. None of this makes sense. If this was the deal, why wouldn't Friedman take Fedde and Pham as well? Cards gave up nothing.

Can someone explain to me how someone goes from being a consensus top 5 prospect in MLB and having a good rookie season in 2023 to not being worth acquiring for Fedde in less than one season?

The guy has made one trade similar to the ones he's trying to make right now and it looks pretty decent at the moment. No idea how you can say "he just doesn't know what to do." If he traded Crochet and Robert (who are under team control) for less than they are worth, that would be embarrassing.

They just traded for a guy making 18 milllion dollars next year who has been in MLB for 9 years and is essentially a 4.00 era pitcher every year. I'd argue if you aren't going to spend, you need to trade guys for a cost controlled front of the rotation guy. Otherwise, its just hoping you get lucky.

Orioles are going to waste their window and I love it.

Doesn't think Crochet is traded now. Said he confirmed with someone familiar with Crochet that yesterday's report was accurate. Implied Orioles would want more of a swing and miss type than Fedde. Dodgers want reliability and is more of a fit with Fedde. Robert's likelihood to be traded decreased substantially after Mariners/Phillies deals. Robert track record is "variable"
