  1. Vargas has an OPS over 1.000 in AAA this year. He's not Oscar Colas.
  2. I pretty much agree with this. I think the Dodgers are not getting enough criticism. To me, they look like idiots along with the Sox.
  3. I'm not defending the Fedde trade, I was convinced the reporters were all wrong for like 2 hours after it was reported. But if Fedde was worth a backend top 100 guy and another prospect outside the top 100, they traded him for Vargas (a guy who was #40 a year ago) and probably is valued by the Sox/others as a backend top 100 guy right now and instead of a second guy, they got two 19 year olds they liked. The deal looks bad because they gave up Kopech and Pham and Cardinals weirdly only gave up Edman etc. If they sent over like Victor Scott or someone or if they didn't trade Kopech and got another lotto ticket, I think everyone would say it was in line with our expectations. I also KNOW that if Getz traded for Kyle Stowers, the same people in this thread would be flipping out that we took on a guy turning 27. But yes, that wasn't a good deal and one would think Fedde's package would be clearly better than the Rogers package but I admit its closer than it should be. Orioles probably paid a little more because they were running out of guys they could afford with the players they wanted to move.
  4. Yeah, I'm not saying Rogers = Fedde.
  5. Vargas probably better than Norby. Stowers does nothing for me on this team. I wont pretend to know about the 19 year olds we got. I'd bet Elias offered this deal to the Sox and they chose Vargas over Norby, which is reasonable. The problem with the Fedde trade was it was one player short, especially if we included Kopech... who isn't great but had some value.
  6. If the Sox traded Fedde for Norby and Stowers yesterday, you'd be posting how great it was? I doubt it.
  7. AJSS hurt too, right? Besides... no more pitching headliners. gotta be LAD
  8. As weird/bad as the Fedde trade was, I still wouldn't have been happy with what Baltimore sent to Miami.
  9. And the third team gets Crochet and Mason Adams but doesn't give anyone up.
  10. I still don't understand what the Dodgers were doing. Apparently 12 teams were interested in Fedde. They could have swapped another team in for Cardinals and gotten more than Edman.
  11. So we kind of traded Fedde straight up for Michael Busch and then Pham, Kopech for two young single A players?
  12. I'm not following. Dodgers traded Vargas and two single A prospects for Erick Fedde, Tommy Pham, and Kopech (Bad for Sox!) Dodgers traded Fedde and Pham for Edman (Bad for Dodgers!).
  13. It just doesn't make sense that the Dodgers essentially traded Fedde and Pham for Edman. Getz may be a moron but Andrew Friedman sure as hell isn't.
  14. Is it just me or is it weird that the teams official twitter accounts haven't announced it yet?
  15. Lolol if this is it (and I can't believe it is), its very funny that Orioles couldn't beat it.
  16. It doesn't even make sense from the Dodgers POV. If STL isn't giving anything up besides Edman but getting the best guy in the trade, LAD look like fools too. They could have gotten Fedde and Pham and flipped them for someone like Edman.
  17. Bruce Levine naming other dudes named Vargas. None of this makes sense. If this was the deal, why wouldn't Friedman take Fedde and Pham as well? Cards gave up nothing.
  18. No way Cardinals only gave up Edman. Is Soxtalk acting up for anyone else? I keep getting timed out when I refresh.
  19. Lol... someone here said they heard it on a "white sox discord" and there are pages of the same 10 posters riling each other up over something that is highly unlikely to happen.
  20. That's ground ball rate and chase rate in his case?
  21. Can someone explain to me how someone goes from being a consensus top 5 prospect in MLB and having a good rookie season in 2023 to not being worth acquiring for Fedde in less than one season?
  22. I’m at a bar with no sound so maybe I can’t tell…. I see him hitting 100 mph and guys getting bunt hits and infielders missing the ball. Why is this evidence that he hit a wall?
  23. "Recently, Garrett expressed concern about his innings, workload, and desire to not move to the bullpen. To accommodate him, we want to send him to the minors so he can continue to pitch according to the plan that Garrett and his agents have said they want to stick to. Unfortunately, winning games is the number one priority at the major league level and we want to make sure Garrett feels comfortable with his role." Then send his ass down to pitch to blocked Orioles prospects in Norfolk.
  24. The guy has made one trade similar to the ones he's trying to make right now and it looks pretty decent at the moment. No idea how you can say "he just doesn't know what to do." If he traded Crochet and Robert (who are under team control) for less than they are worth, that would be embarrassing.
