It’s a ruse to keep Grady’s price tag down. They want to offer him no more than $2/hour more than the $15 he was making last year.

I don’t think it’s as pathetic as caring what another fan thinks but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. When I get like this about posts I put them on ignore.

All of this is as exciting as a root canal. You know you won’t be any better but you just hope you won’t be worse off than before but you can’t be sure until the Novocain wears off.

Not every team has an experienced bench coach. Like he said.

Jerry Reinsdorf open to selling the White Sox per Britt Ghiroli
Garland was a top prospect who figured it out for 1.5 years. It happened to be in the right year. Buehrle was in fact the most unlikely to be a stud when he was drafted. Thank God he turned out to be one.

Jerry Reinsdorf open to selling the White Sox per Britt Ghiroli
Who’s putting it down? It’s just reality that when you trade Carlos Lee for Scott Podsednik you are not building the team to win. That they got incredibly lucky is great.

Garland was dumb luck too. So was Podsednik. So was Iguchi.

Jerry Reinsdorf open to selling the White Sox per Britt Ghiroli
Yes. It wasn’t by design. Contreras had an ERA of 5.30 the previous year. Jenks was off the scrap heap. Dumb luck.

Jerry Reinsdorf open to selling the White Sox per Britt Ghiroli
They were competitive in the preceding seasons but no one in their right mind looked at the 2005 team and thought “Best team in baseball.” They were designed to finish 1st-3rd but not challenge the Yankees or Red Sox. Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy they won and I had a Husky named Buehrle and I have a dog named AJ and someday I’ll adopt a Paulie. But that team performed far above their ceiling that one year.

No he doesn’t get credit. A dumb monkey pressing buttons blindly would have won one World Series in 44 years. He is way below expectations.

Jerry Reinsdorf open to selling the White Sox per Britt Ghiroli
Good article but I do grow tired of hearing how 2005 is a positive mark on his legacy. After 44 years of ownership mathematically he should have won at least one World Series and should have appeared in three. Screw crediting him for one accidental championship with a team that was not designed to win.

Hey!!! Dave Stewart is just as crappy an executive as any white guy! He has the record to prove it!

Of course there will. They will put an American League expansion team in the third largest city in the country. That is obvious.

Also in the modern era unless you are a season ticket holder who cares if your team is a few miles away or hundreds of miles away? You can watch every game relatively inexpensively, get commentary, everything you can currently get when not going to their games. i vow to become a season ticket holder of any expansion team that comes to Chicago.

At this point I hope they move to Nashville. Screw billionaires and their publicly funded stadiums. GTFOH. There will be an expansion team replacing them.

Orioles might need an ace
Sale wad kind of a steal. Started an All Star game and won a World Series with Boston. Moncada had 1.5 good years and is despised by the fan base.

I don’t think Getz will put together a .500 team before Reinsdorf is put out to pasture and new management tells Getz to turn in his keys and rips his name tag off his shirt. I don’t credit Williams with putting together a World Series team. That team was designed to be worse than 2004. It was a freak of nature, lightning in a bottle. Totally by accident.

It doesn’t matter if they are idiots and believed him or not. I’m sorry but there is shame that should be attached to being a liar. And Reinsdorf and Getz are liars and deserve to be publicly shamed and humiliated. If they were just bad at their jobs it’s one thing. Lying to the customers is disgraceful.

It's not like Getz is a blank slate. He's failed his way up here. And, as has been pointed out countless times, the other successful rebuilds we have witnessed in the last decade and a half had at least one in common ... they cleaned house and fired all the management and started over. Getz is just KW/Hahn Part Trois.

And as you corectly pointed out a while ago, even teams that have TRIED to lose have never managed to lose 121 games. Ever.

Yes the hat is still superior. We used to joke in the 90s, could you imagine Dre or Snoop wearing a Cubs hat, lol. Roberts is checked out. He wants out yesterday. Crochet could be but I have a feeling his arm is going to fall off with no warning. Not based in anything just a bad feeling. But for every one of those the Cubs can raise you two. If I were growing up now I don't know that I would have picked the Sox (God willing I'd never pick the Cubs).

In fact the brand is not fine as we have seen countless national articles detailing the disaster that is the brand. Who said we wanted them to go all in? I said it does in fact matter when you have a franchise crippling season, not merely a bad team. Also would have been nice if Getz would have been up front with customers and not lied to them about rebuilding. Yet another failing with this franchise, they cannot be honest with customers … Ever.

The Cubs are about to finish a second rebuild. There is a generation of kids growing up and not giving the Sox a second thought. And who can blame them?
-
Managerial “Search”
Making a mockery of the sport and destroying your brand, possibly permanently, in a year you can’t pick higher than 10 doesn’t matter? That’s a weird take.

When Michael Jordan had input on coaches that was a player whose opinion mattered. When anyone on a team with the most losses in history has an opinion on a coach they can be DFA’d if they don’t like it.
