Also there is nothing in the GM's career to suggest that if he did have the financial backing he could put together a master plan that would actually work.

I'm not sure referencing Hillary Duff and Wanda Sykes is the own he thinks it is.

Of course when they were in a perfect position they took a pass on Harper and Machado, giving them unserious offers. That was when the last rebuild died.

What will it be when they trade Roberts and/or Benitendi?

Reinsdorf intentionally dismantled the Jordan Bulls. That alone discredits any one of those six championships he inherited. Yes, he is worse than Halas and the Cub owners. Not just for the dismantling but for his taxpayer funded stadium as well. He’s a crappy owner and a grifter.

I suppose if they have the top five starting pitchers at each level then there is no room for improvement. If only we had a recent example of minor league starting pitchers flaming out in this system.

But the thing is that in over a hundred years even when teams have tried to lose they were never able to lose that many games.

I do wonder how many of those teams traded their best pitcher in the offseason and were shopping their best hitter. I think we may be in uncharted territory.

OT but I was thinking this morning … the max contract the Sox have ever dished out is 10 percent of what Soto and Ohtani got. That’s just hilarious.

Now do the rest of the pitchers that led to 90 ERA+ the last two seasons and simply league average 2022 in the heart of a contention window.

It is not the highlight of every other team’s signings though.

Also a non zero chance that they could set the loss record one year after setting the loss record. They won’t have the services of Moncada at all, Crochet may be gone, Roberts may be gone.

They haven’t had an outside GM since Ron Schueler, who built a top notch minor league system. He must have convinced Reinsdorf of something.

Seems that it’s something anyone else could do better and more efficiently.

Never should have been hired in the first place and he hired a guy who had never managed before so the book is still out on him. Easy to buy out Moncada when JR is cutting costs. What else has he done? Getz still blows. Fire him.

Scherzer and Verlander have won three Cy Young awards a piece. Only four pitchers have won more. WTF?

Agree with what you say but it sucks. You’re going to see guys with 150 wins and no shutouts in the Hall of Fame and nobody will be able to figure out why unless they have a computer in front of them. I hate how the pitching game has evolved. One of my best memories was Jack Morris and John Smoltz in Game 7, 0-0 in the tenth inning. Something that will never, ever happen again. No memorable games. “Hey remember we saw that pitcher’s duel with four guys from the home team and three from the visiting team? That was great.” Ugh. You are 100% right, it just sucks.
