Good post but how did you list Reinsdorf’s flubs and leave 1994 off the list? That should be at the top.
-
But we have evidence of other players taking less money than the White Sox offer so don’t assume just opening the checkbook changes things.
-
Spoiler alert - 2026 is going to be another lost season.
-
I don’t credit Reinsdorf with one World Series. Mathematically they should have won at least one over 45 years and should have appeared in three. He doesn’t get credit for winning one in a year when they traded Carlos Lee and Ordonez and nobody got hurt.

1990 the Cubs outdraw the Sox by 10% 1991 the Sox outdraw the cubs by 30% - new stadium 1992 the Sox outdraw the cubs by 24% 1993 the Sox and Cubs had nearly equal attendance. 1994 the Sox slightly outdraw the Cubs pre-lockout 1995 the Cubs are 20% higher - Sox 8 games under 500, Cubs 2 games over 500 1996 the Cubs are 32% higher - Sox 8 games over 500, Cubs 10 games under 500 1997 the Cubs are 17% higher - Sox 1 game under 500, Cubs 26 games under 500 Sosa - one all star appearance in 1995. Sosa was not "Sammy!" by 1997. Harry Caray went to the Cubs in 1981. What could have happened specifically to the White Sox in 1994 that led to such a dramatic change in attendance? The Sox never recovered from the Reinsdorf debacle in 1994. Even the 2005-2006 the Cubs outdraw the Sox. It's 100% the lockout that lead to the Sox never recovering Chicago market share.

Predict the White Sox win total 2025

5 out of 16 is not a lot to accomplish but this could get uglier as some of these guys hit inning pitched that they've never reached before. I used to think it would get bad when Roberts was traded but at this point trading him could be an upgrade. -
They may even have people that read Sox message boards.

Kenny always gets his guy!!!! Sorry, muscle memory. (Should have read through ... TheBooneLoganEra beat me to it.)

Holy crap Getz is going to have 9 more years?!?!?!?

And Clemens won the Cy Young award the next two years and Navarro was the worst pitcher in baseball. I mind the steroid accusation but everyone was using then. The Sox signed Canseco and Manny Ramirez for crying out loud. -

They would have crucified him more than they did for a 121 loss season? At least he would have had a “rebuilding” excuse. -

I thought AJ was the right hire at the time but I don’t see how he prevents these too guys from being out of shape and getting hurt. They rewarded these guys too early. Whoever pointed that out was right. -

No. The Harper and Clemens failures were bigger mistakes. They were face of the organization stars and would have lent credibility to the organization. AJ Hinch or Renteria would not have kept the ship sailing in the right direction. Maybe they wouldn’t have been as embarrassing as LaRussa, sure, but these young guys with extensions would have still injured themselves under different managers. -

That is one of the best explanations. -
New ownership is not highly likely to change the perception of the organization for quite some time if ever.
-
There will be no modern day Carlton Fisks, Greg Luzinskis, Ron LeFlores, Tom Seavers coming to the White Sox.
-
-
Why don't you understand that he does not take ownership of this franchise until at least 2029?

... and are strangely silent after five losses in a row.
