  1. I don’t think they wouldn’t have won with Ordonez and Lee.
  2. At least someone spending for the sake of spending would be a step in the right direction. We built them a stadium for 35 freaking years. The least they can do is spend for the sake of spending. I don’t care if Reinsdorf’s pockets are slightly lighter.
  3. Isn’t that a summary of what Ray Ray said?
  4. In a couple years they will sign a $100 million contract and use it as evidence they’re not what we said they were, all while everyone else in the league has signed $200 million contracts. They will always be 10+ years behind.
  5. Yeah, and those contracts were quickly dwarfed by today’s standards. It always made sense at that time to be a serious business in a big city. AJ and Harper were obvious hires and Machado right behind. Instead they went the clown show route.
  6. Isn’t Getz part of the argument in favor of Reinsdorf being the worst owner? A guy who failed upwards in Reinsdorf’s organization.
  7. This. It’s endlessly amusing to see “they’re going to start using analytics”. Great, they finally got around to seeing Moneyball 15 years too late. Do something useful, not something that brings you within 10 years of what everyone else is already doing.
  8. If we’re just going by number in the top 100 you’re treating all as equal. You’re not accounting for the fact that 37 other players are ranked higher than anyone in the Sox farm system.
  9. So that leaves 76 players spread across 18 teams for an average of four for the remaining 18 teams, some with three, some with five. I guess I’m not impressed with the farm system or five in the top 100. ESPN has them at 20. Out of 30. MLB.com had them at 17 at the break. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/46070464/2025-mlb-prospect-rankings-update-farm-systems-30-teams-mets-dodgers-mariners
  10. Shouldn’t every team, on average, have 3-4 players in the top 100? (Distributed uniformly, of course.) Five does not seem all that impressive, especially with none above 38.
  11. That wasn't the measure I was using. If you want to use it go right ahead. I wasn't considering an MVP no one saw but if you want to then be my guest. If you do so then you also have to add in another Cubs playoff appearance bringing it up to 6-2 rather than 5-1. Whatever gets you to sleep at night.
  12. We know they are not watching the White Sox. If their parents are watching them the kids probably are as well. I don't know how you make them future fans when for ten years all they know is Cubs success and Sox suckage, haven't watched the White Sox, with no future changes expected.
  13. “Last ten full seasons”
  14. Giolito? (Should have read further first.)
  15. Does this improve going forward as a generation of kids grow up with the North side team in the playoffs five times in the last ten full seasons while the Sox have one forgettable postseason appearance in the last ten completely seasons and have lost 100 games more often than they have been above .500? Since 2015 what kid in his right mind would watch this team when they can watch the other team? I don’t think they ever win these people back.
  16. This reminds me of when fat girls believe they are beautiful.
  17. The book is open on his being a good manager.
  18. The book is certainly still open on that...
  19. They finished 29th overall, 24th post All Star Break. Still a failure no matter how you break it up, unless you remove all of August and a couple weeks of September.
  20. It should be noted that it’s not just your opinion that they are the worst organization. There have been league wide surveys and players back up this assessment.
  21. At the time, 2019 or so, they had some quality hitters. Couldn’t really stay healthy but maybe there is a world where they take their health more seriously in a serious organization. But you are right about NL players. I was one of the idiots who thought Dunn would be a good compliment to the rest of the hitters the Sox had. Mea culpa. Who else has there been? Grandal? Rios was a bum but he came from Toronto. The third baseman that played for the Reds (can’t think of his name.)
