  1. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:16 AM) If they are discussing these guys I would imagine a 72 hr window is involved. It is the only way anything of the sort makes sense. What's the 72 hour window do?? We get 72 hours to negociate a contract.. What happens if nothing is reached in that time frame? Can the trade be thrown out? Someone enlighten lil' ol' me
  2. This makes me so so so nervous.. I know I won't like what we give up if we acquire him..
  3. I really don't see why we wouldn't take 2 relief pitchers.. Why not.. If one doesn't work he goes back to the original team.. Not a big deal. There's some talent here and we have 7 open relief pitcher spots lolll
  4. What if the White Sox rebuild of the last year ruined all rebuilds for the future.. Maybe other owners are too scared to give up ton of prospects. So now they settle for lesser packages because they can't find anyone to gut their systems
  5. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) Perhaps Avi could have a market when the Marlins talent feeding frenzy ends. Yelich is as good as gone after the Ozuna deal. According to the Marlins front office he is not available
  6. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) Jon Heyman @JonHeyman 38s an a's trade for stephen piscotty from cardinals is "edging closer" via @susanslusser. @Ken_Rosenthal connected those 2 teams earlier. Wow. guess we know he isn't in the Marlins deal.. How many years did Ozuna have on his deal?
  7. Just saw that. I don't think this pulls them out of the Abreu sweepstakes.. The Cards still need a first baseman. Still a good match. The questions really is what would they have left in the farm after the Ozuna deal and will they weaken it more from it for Abreu?
  8. I'm going to guess Flaherty, and 2 of there MLB OF.. Like a Bader and Piscotty/Grichuk
  9. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 07:22 AM) I don't know but how many times do I have to read about WAR being the be all, end all to a players value? I don't get the dismay with Garcia. I've seen people wanting Delmonico playing rather than Avi. That's just wrong. Delmonico will never approach a year like Garcia just had and is not near the plyer. I heard Carlos Pena last night talking about Ozuna and how teams need to let players develop because he was sent down to the minors a couple years ago, made adjustments, and now is the most coveted available trade chip out there. I also heard a GM, think it was Shapiro, talking about a prospect comparing to a current player on their roster. He mentioned how the prospect was in the minors, while at the same age, the other guy was already in the league. Everybody is high on Eloy, and rightfully so, but at his age in high A and AA, Avi was already playing in the bigs. Now that Avi seems to have figured things out.....trade him. Makes zero sense to me. Not surprising it doesn't make sense to you..
  10. I really want Nestor Cortes with our first selection and then pick Jordan Guerrero with our second and send him back to the minors.
  11. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 03:40 PM) I mean, it's not happening for the Sox this offseason, nor do I want them to. The biggest upside to a team trading for him now is getting ONE year out of him and using that opportunity to impress him so much that he either signs an extension or would give some kind of preference in free agency to them... I'd guess there's a 98% chance he tests the market, so I say let's just reproach next year. The interesting comment as noted in the first post is that he wants to play SS. If that's the case I'd like to see some experimenting either spring training or late in the season when we are out of it to test Anderson in CF or 3B. Still a very small chance we get him, but in the case we do I'd like to see how Anderson plays the diamond elsewhere. Anderson to 2nd makes sense and then you can move Moncada back to third where he seemed like a better defender.. This is all of the hypothetical that we actually signed Machado
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 01:03 PM) I understand that, but the post I was replying to talked about Ellsbury being worth about 1/2 his deal. He might well perform like a 1.5 win player each of the next 3 years and that's a tolerable CF, but if that takes playing time away from someone who could develop into a big leaguer that hurts us in a different way. There's a cost associated with us giving him playing time when we could be developing a useful piece of our own. Don't forget we'd get a good prospect back (presumably). Who could we realistically expect if such a crazy thing happened?
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 11:22 AM) I don't know how to translate the units FV into anything meaningful to me. Can you clarify? Add a player comp? that's essentially a top 100 prospect,.. Which Yolmer is not worth that
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) Clint Frazier Now would be the time to kick the tires on that.. Yolmer and someone for Frazier.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) I just think guys like Sanchez and Leury Garcia, are players that have some value, but aren't the types of guys where you acquire really interesting prospects. You get B-/C+ guys at best. You might as well keep them. I'd guess you'd get a Melky Cabrera sort of return. So yeah, B-, C Prosects
  16. Man it's slow.. Stanton and Ohtani really slowed down this offseason
  17. Their 2-4 hitters will be Judge, Stanton and Sanchez in some order. No way they move one to 5th
  18. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 11:18 AM) When the new top 100 rankings come out sometime in January I fully expect Hansen to take a pretty significant leap. The stuff is there and the control is improving. Frazier is overrated, and unless he's a plus defensive center fielder I don't think the bat will stick at a corner. Power potential is great, but only if you make enough contact to use it. Fangraphs was really down on his 2017 performance, rating him below replacement level offsensively, and -5.8 defensively...which is cause for concern. Buyer beware. I'd be pretty shocked if he isn't a top 50 prospect.
  19. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) Rutherford for Frazier, who says no! Yankees say no
  20. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 10:36 AM) Yes. It was around noon when my phone blew up. Yeah it was around noon when I became completely un-productive at work.
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 08:36 AM) I don't really there is significant reliever risk with Kopech anymore. He's the best pitching prospect in baseball. He dominated AA last year and should be in the big leagues shortly. His floor is high leverage power reliever sure but I don't think the risk is significant anymore. He's a freaking ace. I'm with you. I always joke with my baseball buddies that Kopech will win the Cy Young in 3 years... Little do they know, I'm not totally joking lol
  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 10, 2017 -> 08:37 AM) Ok, who says no: Sox trade Carlos Rodon for Clint Frazier & Justus Sheffield Yankees say no in a heartbeat and then laugh in Rick Hahn's face.
  23. If we could get Devers straight up the trade would have already been done.
