He would arguably be the top FA pitcher this offseason though if he finishes out the season strong. Could lock up similar money to what he's making now for longer than just the next 2 years.

Luckily we're not trying to move him at the $44 million price tag. What we are paying him is very affordable to almost every team.

There seems to be some desire from the Sox to sell high on BGJ, which is good. I would be disappointed if only Shields and Robertson were traded, but that does seem pretty likely.

When is the last time the Sox flipped a player in the same year that they traded for him? Hopefully the Sox can move him, but I don't think anyone is going to give up much for him.

If the Jays are shutting Sanchez down as a starter, Shields makes a lot sense for Toronto.

Exactly what I was coming here to post.

Here the thing about Puig......one, he's been bad this year. Two, he was hurt last year. And three, he's signed through 2018, and IMO, we won't be contenders until 2018. So we really only get 1 year to win with Puig? Not saying I would rather keep Shields, just saying this doesn't really help our future as much unless our plan is to flip him once he regains some value.

I would absolutely do Shields for Puig.

Why would the Dodgers do it though?
