I ripped his heart out and stomped on it. Hope he doesn't hunt me down and murder me.

How's this for perspective? The last time I saw this guy was 2003 or 2004. I got married in 2006 and he wasn't invited to my wedding. Never even considered it.

Hopefully you're just being sarcastic and politely declined.

That is odd though. I don't even get invited to weddings for people I haven't seen in less years.

I was invited to a wedding, and attended, of a co-worker who I worked with for few months at the time./

Yeah, I was polite and wished him the best of luck.

My god, that is unbearably awkward.

I'll bet his soon to be wife has a bunch of friends and he needs to "even out the wedding party".

or

He came from somewhere back in her long ago

The sentimental fool don't see trying hard to recreate

What had yet to be created once in her life

She musters a smile for his nostalgic tale

Never coming near what he wanted to say

Only to realize

It never really was

She had a place in his life

He never made her think twice

As he rises to her apology

Anybody else would surely know

He's watching her go

But what a fool believes he sees

No wise man has the power to reason away

What seems to be

Is always better than nothing

And nothing at all keeps sending him

Somewhere back in her long ago

Where he can still believe there's a place in her life

Someday, somewhere, she will return

She had a place in his life

He never made her think twice

As he rises to her apology

Anybody else would surely know

He's watching her go

But what a fool believes he sees

No wise man has the power to reason away

What seems to be (if love can come and love can go, then why can't love return once more?)

Is always better than nothing (fool's got the power)

There's nothing at all (oh, now)

But what a fool believes he sees (i believe she's never gone away)

No wise man has the power

To reason away (to reason away)

What seems to be (oh, if love can come and love can go, oh, mama)

Is always better than nothing (better than nothing)

And nothing at all

My buddy's wedding a few years ago, he had 4 groomsmen and his wife had 8 bridesmaids. It was weird seeing 4 girls walk down the aisle alone.

Why not have each groomsman with a bridesmaid on each arm?

I went to China as part of an economic study group for 12 days. How long is she there and what city or cities will she be in?

Chongquing

That should be your profession. You like weddings, you like social gatherings, it's pretty perfect for you.

I was in a coma!

There's going to be a total solar eclipse on August 21st, the first in nearly a century. Those of us in northern IL won't get a complete eclipse, but NASA has a nifty app that shows how it'll look where you're at.

The coolest place around to check this out might just be Klingman's dome in the Smoky Mountains.

Getting to the point after my dad dying that its just the little things. I'll see something and want to text him...and I can't. Those little moments almost hurt as much as anything.

For those with a typical 9-5, is anyone else working Monday? I assumed, wrongly, that my office would be closed. We just got the internal memo saying we're open.

I'm kinda pissed about that. If Christmas falls on a Tuesday, we don't work Monday. Pretty sure the same goes for New Years.

I lived this exact moment about a week ago.

We get a half day because NYSE is half a day.

We're open until 2 pm on Monday but I'm guessing 75% of us are taking the day off.

It's not a court holiday, so I guess that's why we're staying open? The explanation I got from my partner was "welcome to work."

Yeah I dont know. It is up to the discretion of my bosses and they fear the corporate overlords. A lot of court holidays we dont get off, but we get random other days.

I think Monday is going to be a waste, but I guess Ill take the easy day. Too bad the taste isnt open already because it would have been a good night to go there.

We are shut down...just means a floating holiday is used (vs. it really being an extra day off). We get 10 holidays and a couple move depending on when the holidays actually fall. My wife and most everyone I know don't get it off though.

We're working. I need to bring entertainment.
