I think Stone is right. That pitch was 88, his change-up was 81.

Sale's average change-up this year is 86.3 MPH. If he's amped up it makes sense that it would be at 88.

Curve isn't working. Fastball isn't good enough to compensate. He's basically a one-pitch pitcher.

But yeah, probably not going anywhere this year, possibly not until the deadline next year, if he bounces back.

Perhaps, but we're at the point of diminishing returns in terms of control. Next year will be absolutely critical for him and we better hope there is a good market. Still hard to believe they couldn't get fair value for him this offseason.

He can't pitch out of the stretch for s***. Not sure I've ever been as disappointed with someone's performance as his this year. And honestly...it really could be a kick in the nuts to the Sox rebuild. They won't get half of what they thought they were going to get....
