August 6, 20178 yr That Kopech's some kinda something. Last 5 starts: 34 IP 44 K (11.65 K/9) 19 H 5 BB (1.32 BB/9) 0.71 WHIP 1.06 ERA He's at 112 1/3 IP. Previous season high was 65 IP. Putting up video game #s as he hits his career high in IP. Hansen's line at Winston-Salem so far: 41 2/3 IP 58 K (12.53 K/9) 29 H 17 BB (3.67 BB/9) 1.10 WHIP 2.38 ERA Hansen's season line: 114 1/3 IP 150 K (11.81 K/9) 86 H 40 BB (3.15 BB/9) 1.10 WHIP 2.44 ERA Edited August 6, 20178 yr by Sox Fan In Husker Land
August 6, 20178 yr QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 07:34 PM) Giolito probably done for the night, but very nice start all things considered. It sure is nice when good Lucas shows up.
August 6, 20178 yr QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 02:23 AM) 3 run bomb for Adolfo! Amazing how often Burger reaches via error

August 6, 20178 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 08:27 PM) Amazing how often Burger reaches via error There are so many fun things about Burger so far, but his strikeout rate is my favorite.
August 6, 20178 yr Holy hell, the pitching tonight is insane. As impressive as Hansen and Kopech were tonight, Giolito shutting down Gwinnett impresses me a bit more. A 2020 starting rotation of #1's sounds good to me.
August 6, 20178 yr QUOTE (Sox Fan In Husker Land @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 08:38 PM) Video of Hansen's curve from tonight: Hansen K Absolutely dirty movement and plane. Wow.
August 6, 20178 yr combined line for the big 3, 18 ip, 10 hits, 0 ER, 5 walks, 30 strikeouts. Thats a night!!!
August 6, 20178 yr QUOTE (Sox Fan In Husker Land @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 08:38 PM) Video of Hansen's curve from tonight: Hansen K That's just not fair to the hitter, lol. Funny thing, according to pipeline his Slider is even better which neither is rated as good as his fastball. So much potential it's crazy.
August 6, 20178 yr Eloy might find himself close to #1 prospect next year. Kopech's gonna be up that way too.

My guess is that Kopech will be called up to AAA when Lopez is called up to MLB on Friday. Just as Lopez pretty much has nothing left to prove in AAA, Kopech has nothing left to prove in AA.
August 6, 20178 yr The Kopech issue is the innings pitched. I'd actually be fine with his season ending soon. Don't really care if he makes it to AAA or not this year.
August 6, 20178 yr QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 10:07 PM) The Kopech issue is the innings pitched. I'd actually be fine with his season ending soon. Don't really care if he makes it to AAA or not this year. Yeah, at this point there's no point to moving him up. He'd get a few starts in AAA, which is barely enough to settle into the level. The only thing I could see is if they want to kind of shut him down, and have him work long stints out of the pen in AAA. Also, not really seeing the point in that either.
August 6, 20178 yr The last thing you want to do is have him get all amped up "one promotion away from the bigs" when he's already way over his previous career high in innings. He breaks camp in Charlotte next year and is probably in the majors by July, provided he earns it.
August 6, 20178 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 02:12 AM) Hey guys, Hansen is 2-4. We might just have our Quintana 2.0 then. No run support, cant get a win despite great numbers.
August 6, 20178 yr I made a post couple weeks ago about how I struggled to put Kopech at that top-top level until I could see him just have good command for a single outing. I pointed out that he'd yet to have a single start with fewer than 2 walks and several other ugly walk-related numbers. Since then, in his 4 starts he's had 0, 2, 0, and 1 walks in 8, 6, 7, and 7 innings to go with 8, 12, 8, and 11 strikeouts.

It would get so much more difficult at the upper levels if he coudln't through strikes. If he has turned a corner? Oh my.
