Carlos Rodon to the DL, will not pitch again in 2017

Just shut him down, and hope he's ready for 2018.

innings pitched in his 3 seasons, and people were worried about him being overworked before we drafted him. One of several issues at this point with him.

2018 a big year for Rodon............need a full year healthy from him around 200 innings pitched hopefully.

Getting MRI tomorrow. I don't like that we haven't heard the words "precautionary" and "similar to last time"

Sad if he is hurt badly. He's a very promising pitcher. PTATC?? What up with the MRI? What could show up?

And thus, stockpile pitching

I am not too worried about this. He was fine when he last pitched. I bet if the Sox were battling for something he pitches last night. e. Shut him down and continue your quest for the highest draft pick.

They will give him an MRI, but I think that is more for appearances sake than anything else.

How on Earth does that logic work? He wasn't hurt last time so he can't have something new or worse now?

If there was something wrong, I would guess, and I know none of us know like you do, that something would have reared its ugly head when he was throwing 98 MPH rather than just hurting himself since. He mentioned how good his arm felt AFTER he last pitched.

Totally illogical to you I guess. But I come from the position that pitchers generally hurt their arms pitching, not watching television.

Pitchers pitch sore all the time. If 100% was required for pitchers to pitch, baseball would become t-ball by June. But there is no reason for Rodon to push it at this time.

So it is your belief that Carlos Rodon has done nothing but "watched television" since his last time out?

He certainly hasn't opened it up much or he wouldn't have even bothered warming up. This was a last second thing.

Just remember how extra cautious the White Sox have been with injuries this season. If there was any hint of anything being wrong with Rodon prior to 20 minutes before last night's game, he wouldn't have even tried warming up.

But the proof will be in the pudding. You will hear the MRI came up with nothing structural, but Rodon will be shelved for the time being.

I have no inside info but when I read this first thing I saw was that maybe he just woke up sore, slept on something wrong and as they got closer to the start and he had loosened up they decided to take the extra cautious route. No basis for that.

The last time that Rodon had a no big deal injury he missed 3 months.

He's about to have a little more than that off anyway.

Given his history it's logical to be skeptical about Rodon's health. That said, as pointed out, there's zero reason to push him and every reason to scratch him for any soreness. We'll see.

@scottmerkin

Carlos Rodon has been placed on 10 day DL with left shoulder inflammation and will not pitch again in 2017

@scottmerkin

The plan is for him to be further evaluated next week.

Quick, trade Rodon to Toronto!

Just went from being interested in watching a 3 Sox games every 5 days to 2...

Hope we hear more about the MRI. Still a little uneasy about him needing further evaluation.

Bummer. Could be worse I guess. Hopefully he can pitch 200 innings in 2019 or 2020

The Nationals would like that.
