When we got to our baggage claim at O'Hare yesterday, there were multiple news reporters and cameras trying to interview people off our flight. I was just so happy to see my kids there. Couldn't help but think there may have been empty seats on our plane from people that may have been at the concert.

The magnitude of this, nearly 600 people it's just staggering and hard to comprehend. People just going out to have a good time, celebrate with friends and family. The pain of this is just enormous.

What if this guy's one motive was to become a posthumous celebrity like what the media does to the shooters every time, instead of talking more about the victims?

I am sure this is the case for most mass killers like this. They want the fame and notoriety. You just know there is someone out there right now thinking they want to break the record that was set in Las Vegas. It sucks to think about but it is reality. I wish the media would stop showing his face and saying his name because that is exactly what he wanted.

Right, and especially after so many of these. These people aren't interesting. They are failures that decided to take out their problems on wonderful people with a gun. There were no breaking points, there's no interesting back story. Just decided to do a terrible thing.

 

Jesus. Thoughts and prayers going out to all the victims. This is just inconceivable.

The total number of US Casualties in Operation Desert Storm was just over 600 (counting dead and wounded). Basically same number.

He had multiple cameras linked to a tablet to watch his back, including one camera hidden in a food service cart in the hallway.

So much planning went into this. It makes me so sick.

I read an article last night that had tidbits on most of the victims and I was straight up bawling by the end. So many innocent lives lost, so many there for memorable moments with friends and family...

It is truly amazing how much heroism human beings can show in the face of immense danger.

 

And yet, many of us treat one another like complete s*** on a daily basis, under normal circumstances.

As authorities search for a motive, Paddock’s finances have become a significant focal point — most notably, 200-plus casino or wire transactions by Paddock that were flagged for review by FinCEN, the U.S. government’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, which collects data to identify potential money laundering or covert terrorism financing. The FBI is also reviewing transactions by Danley that were flagged by FinCEN. According to a source familiar with the probe, the various transactions date back to 2014 and are being vigorously investigated. The sources said one transaction that has drawn significant attention is a $100,000 transfer to the Philippines by either Paddock or Danley prior to Sunday’s shooting. Danley was in the Philippines when Paddock opened fire on the crowd in Las Vegas.

 

A call to the FBI’s field office requesting comment was not returned. Danley returned to the U.S. on Tuesday night and is cooperating with the investigation, authorities said.

 

The FBI has not ruled out terrorism as a potential motive for Paddock’s shooting rampage, but a source familiar with the probe told Yahoo that there has been no evidence developed linking him to extremism.

 

 

He may have been casing a Chance the Rapper concert a couple of weeks ago.

 

If he was, and maybe I'm wrong, but it would appear that he wasn't targeting a specific group of people. I would think the audience for these shows would be quite different. Supposedly he was a country music guy so maybe just killing lots of people and becoming famous was the motivation. Maybe they have a note or something, but it doesn't seem normal that after this amount of time, there appears to be no solid motive.

I really wish people would stop spreading the nonsense about there being a 2nd shooter.

New reports that from the 2nd window, he was shooting nearby aviation fuel tanks, hoping to cause an explosion. He left holes, but didn't penetrate them.

I was thinking about this the other day. You are right. After hurricanes, people drive 200 miles with their boats and rescue strangers. In an incident like this, heroes galore. Strangers helping strangers. But like you said, on a daily basis, what's with all the terrorism so to speak in the workplace. People grabbing power and terrorizing people, stepping on people at work, backstabbing. Road rage for no reason. People screaming at fastfood workers, basically a caste system in which people with money s*** on the little guy all the time.

It's crazy. Yet in crisis time after time, people help people. You said it best in your last sentence. Perfect words written by you to express the sentiment.

 

That said, thank you on behalf of humanity to the heroes in Las Vegas. Thank you. And screw you to all the morons who do the other things I mentioned in this post. Shame on you people in America who do not embrace the golden rule.
