my god. Why are men in power such f***heads?

Is he a big time DIYer because I have no idea who the hell would have installed that Bond villain locking mechanism for him.

Women in power abuse it as well. Probably not as often sexually, but in other ways.

People with status let it go to their heads and think they are more important.

It's like this, but for sexual harassment (I never remember how to embed yt videos here)

Apparently, several higher-ups at NBC have this feature.

NBC not having a great 13 months here. Covered up the Access Hollywood tape, tried covering up for Weintsein, and they had to have known about Lauer for a while.

Nick Saban has one that closes and locks the door.

Eh, I could see him wanting one so he's not bothered. I'm sure he's the type to have an office with a couch and whatnot. I'm sure those people (morning show hosts) take naps during the day since they have to get up at like 4am.

You don't need a button at your desk in order to be able to close or lock a door.

Its a convenience. If youre in a meeting and you want to close the door its easier than 1) getting up to lock it or 2) asking the other person to do it. Most people dont have this stuff, but I dont think its that odd for someone who likely was making millions a year.

I doubt his office is 10ft x10 ft. So i'm sure it's a convenience. I really don't think that's abnormal.

Per the tweet I linked above, it's not abnormal there. Just sounds really creepy in context.

Andrew Lack also under fire, along with Scarborough...fwiw, seems Ann Curry might end up getting her revenge after all.

And does this whole sexual harassment storyline blow up in the same way with Hillary in office? Not so sure.

How come Clarence Thomas isn't being revisited? If Al Franken should resign, Long Dong should as well.

BTW, the "clever" nickname Trump gave Franken actually pops up automatically. So once again, Trump isn't as clever as he wants you to beleive

With some relevance to 2020, Joe Biden was not a particularly decent human being on the day of that testimony.

The details in the nyt Lauer story are horrifying, basically straight up rape

What is wrong with these guys? I f***ing dont get it and never have.

The Lauer details are really bad (as are so many other cases). But geez. This guy was supposed to be Mr. Dad of the century. And he drops his pants (allegedly) and shows off his you know what to some female? She doesn't want any part of him and he gets mad?? Why do all these companies have these fake HR departments??? These women need to go to HR immediately and record the conversations and in the future get these predators fired sooner. I know it's tough to come forward. I just hope we keep hearing about these creeps who misused their power and did these things to women. Toss them all out. We won't feel sorry for them. That includes Trump. I hope if he's guilty some women come forward. And not to be partisan but Mr. Clinton sounds like he was not exactly proper at all times.

My take: Shame on you Mr. Lauer if these charges are true. Abuse of power is wrong.

Yes, horrifying. It's just awful.

I don't get it either. There's one thing about a man having power and using it to attract women who are golddiggers or groupies or whatever you want to call them. But it's another thing altogether to use power to try to take advantage of women in the workplace who want no part of you and these situations. Let's just hope everybody guilty of this continues to get fired/lambasted. I mean there's something to be said about having a life's work ruined by behavior that is uncovered. Charlie Rose ... all the good work he did in his life ... wiped away. He's a scumbag (if guilty of charges). Ditto Lauer and Harvey. Like Rock said ... what is wrong with these guys???? Let's keep exposing them and getting them fired if they are guilty.

Thats a great point, most of these companies launched Ombud departments or avenues for people to report this stuff years ago, even if its anonymous. Where was that, and if they were reported, what the hell?

Eh, once you accept most HR depts view their goal as protecting the company and not the employee it is never shocking some of the routes they take. The decision wasn't "how do we protect our women employees based off of this complaint?" it was "how do we decrease our liability while keeping our accused star talent?"

HBOs movie on Anita Hill had come out over the summer. I suppose now that he is on the supreme court, maybe that is a position not worth sticking your neck out for when it won't bring consequences against him. The whole way the court operates, aside from lifetime positions, is so behind the veil he could survive our weeklong news cycles.

So here's number 5 for Senator Franken:

Kemplin said while she was stationed in the Middle East during the Iraq War, she met Franken -- at the time, a comedian and writer -- as he was visiting American troops with the USO. A longtime fan of "Saturday Night Live," Kemplin got in line to take a photo with Franken.

"When he put his arm around me, he groped my right breast. He kept his hand all the way over on my breast," Kemplin said in an interview. "I've never had a man put their arm around me and then cup my breast. So he was holding my breast on the side."

Kemplin repeatedly used the word "embarrassed" to describe her immediate reaction at the time.

And apparently today was Russell Simmons's day to fall.
