Cedeno called up, Bummer sent to AAA

Featured Replies

I'll be the first to say it...

"Bummer, dude."

I hope Cedeno's AAA numbers follow him

Isn't Rodon supposed to be back this weekend? Because I thought that open 40 spot was for him, but apparently we'll have to trade or outright someone else.

There are definitely other options.

I think Bummer will be back and similar to Fry and Covey, a better pitcher. Was rushed up here so gives him time to develop a bit.

Beck is a goner  when Rodon comes back

Strange.  Bummer has been just fine.  I'd rather see Bummer up here than Beck or Volstad.

One of Beck or Volstad will be gone for Rodon.

Cedeno had an opt out clause coming up so this makes sense. Try to showcase him in the majors for a month or so for a trade instead of just letting him go. Bummer will be back

I brought this up last week. Get Gomez up here so we can see if he’s tradable as well. No reason to be a filler.

This is really a bit of a headscratcher to me. Weird message to send to Bummer that you can pitch fine but if an older guy in AAA pitches well the team needs to trade him so you get demoted.

With the understanding he’ll be back. If Cedeno blows he’ll be released.

If they wanted him to build value to flip he should have been up much earlier than now. Hopefully they get something for him but i doubt it.

Depends, they may want to limit his exposure to look good. There is over 6 weeks to build value. Thats enough time without over exposing him.

I like this move.  I personally don't think Bummer pitched as well as the peripherals might indicate.  I honestly think he could use a bit more seasoning down in AAA.

As for Cedeno, I believe he's under control for another year, so he wouldn't simply be a rental.  Might be able to get a decent wild card prospect for him if he has a strong month and a half before the deadline,

Agreed. he allowed a lot of inherited runners to score.

In general I want to see guys like Bummer here and working, but at the same time his being a primary reliever in AAA means a lot more reps and IPs than being the last guy out of the pen here.

Especially Beck
