Sucks, but this is why the stockpile is so important. And you can’t write him off forever. He could still be fine in 2020.

Yep and why you never have enough pitching!

  • If he's as injured as its feared that's now Giolito, Cease, Stephens and now Dunning (not even counting the bullpen guys) with TJS. You absolutely load up on these guys.

According to twitter, Dunning hurt his elbow today :(

Significant blow to the rebuild. This is exactly why you load up on pitching prospects. If there's one more injury setback among Cease, Hansen, Kopech I'll really start to worry.

Terrible news.

Poor Dunning.  He was having such a great year.  On the bright side an elbow is better than a shoulder.  Strange, we considered Dunning with the Burdi pick, now they both hurt their elbows

Still feel like adding an above average pitcher via free agency the next two offseasons was going to be a necessary act to fill a 1-3 spot in the rotation and add experience.

That's why the whole narrative of taking advantage of Rizzo can suddenly look much different a year or two later.  Everyone loves this move a lot more than the Sale trade...but pitching is so fickle, so many injuries.  That doesn't mean we still have any clue where these 3 will be in 2021, but just goes to prove the axiom you can never have too much pitching.   And Kopech/Cease were the guys that would have been least surprising to get injured with how hard they both throw.

It may come to that, although it'd be embarrassing to the organization if they couldn't fill the top of their rotation with all the prospects they've acquired/developed.

I'll go ahead and guess Jimmy Lambert gets bumped to Birmingham.

Not sure what to make of the video.

But I also wouldn't trust the guy whose tweets you guys linked in here. I've seen him on Twitter, he's even more pessimistic than Fathom. He was tweeting about how Dylan Covey is "likely out for the season" after that minor flare-up today.

Yeesh, not sure how to take that. He clearly realizes something is up after that pitch. Hopefully it isn't serious. Not the blow this organization needs right now.

Dunning speculation has dominated this thread, but in other news...

Eloy - 1/3, BB

Stephens - 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 9 K

Collins - 0/2, 3 BB

Luis Gonzalez - 1/3, BB

Lambert - 8 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 11 K

Luis Mieses - 3/4, BB

Lency Delgado - 1/4, HR, 2 RBI, BB

Varnell - 4 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K

If the announcer was right, then Zack Collins should be commended. Kid knew something was wrong and he didn't want to chance it. Might of (hopefully) saved Dunning from a more serious injury.

Hunter Kiel has been real good in 2 appearances, who knows . . .

Why can't I find any official "report," regarding Dunning's injury?

Fry has had TJ surgery twice.

I literally said in my post I'm not even counting the bullpen guys. If that was the case, I would've named him and Burdi too.

Trying to find write-ups on minor league injuries is damn near impossible.

It's not even mentioned in the "recap" of the game, on the Baron's website.

This is all that this normally good source had to say about it, an hour ago:

Was not trying to correct you, was just mentioning one guy who has made it and had it twice. Jeesh

This is what someone who has the ability to find out information quickly on the issue had to say last night

Sucks as video made me optimistic it wasn't as bad as we feared

Thanks Fathom, but it still doesn't confirm anything, definitive. I suppose that we will get an official report, today.

Isn’t Dr. James Andrews based out of Birmingham...?

Didn’t realize he’s already 76 years old now.

Lol, nothing definitive will come out about Dunning until the Sox get an MRI done and then evaluate the results. Patience Sox fans.
