November 30, 20187 yr Colome's picture on baseball reference makes him look like a really scary angry dude.
November 30, 20187 yr Wow, had a feeling that guy was right. Not a fan of this but at least the defense improves.

Clearly he was told something, but the way he made it sound the Sox were going to be part of the Cano trade, which obviously wasn't accurate. Still don't get the Sox reasoning for trading Narvaez for a reliever. Just sign one.
November 30, 20187 yr Wouldn't sleep on Colome either, he can step in for some saves and had decent peripherals. Believe he has 2 more years of control too. Edited November 30, 20187 yr by Soxnfins

November 30, 20187 yr @scotgregor Narvaez trade opens door for Seby Zavala to be #WhiteSox backup catcher behind Welington Castillo in 2019. Zack Collins and Zavala set for 2020 https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/1068582838017114112 Edited November 30, 20187 yr by SouthWallace

Can't you go out and sign a reliever like Colome to a 2 year $18-20M deal and not give up something in return? I don't mind the acquiring Colome part, I just don't love giving up something of value for a reliever when you can just sign one for similar, if not less, money.

November 30, 20187 yr I don't mind them trading Narvaez, because I hate his defense. I wish they could have received more.
November 30, 20187 yr So where does Colome get flipped at the trade deadline? Edited November 30, 20187 yr by DirtySox

November 30, 20187 yr Doubt this has anything to do with Grandal. Castillo/Zavala are the likely catchers for 2019
November 30, 20187 yr I mean Savala has A LOT to improve on if he's going to be an ML catcher. Narvaez was not special, but he had just come off a 2.1 WAR year (in still limited playing time), has been improving every year and had FOUR years of control. And we got a decent reliever with two years of control? Bad bad trade, IMO.
November 30, 20187 yr I liked Narvaez. 4 years of him for 2 years of Colome means we're trying to win now.

I didn't really read it that way, just that all of these trades would be announced today anyhow I was just giving you a hard time lol

November 30, 20187 yr Wow, not surprised they sold high on Narvaez, but the target is a bit strange. To me, this pretty clearly indicates we plan on being active this winter and putting together a competitive team. No other reason to trade for a reliever with two years of control.
November 30, 20187 yr Anyone think that Seby can replace Narvez's offensive production? I think it will be similar... Albeit Seby may have slightly more pop, but it could be dead even.
November 30, 20187 yr Funny thing is Colome always seemed to struggle when I watched him vs the Sox, but his peripherals have been really good for a while.
