Interesting timing for when this move was made, hopefully it isn’t a sign that the whitesox know they are out on Harper now and are doing everything in their power to grab him up and move to plan b before the meeting with Machado..:

Weird...Alonso is a guy I wanted the Sox to trade for a while back when he was blocked by Votto at 1B and when the Reds were actually good. Can't remember who I thought we could trade them.

There is no way he is worse than Abreu at 1B. I hope Yonder plays 1st and Abreu DHs. Sometimes I wonder if Jose is playing first base with a frying pan instead of a glove.

Yes it is. Makes me think Grandal wasn’t a consideration if Manny was the one they were going to sign because they wouldn’t want to do his buddy Castillo wrong. 

This is definitely something they would do to help get Machado onboard.

What? If it improves the chances of getting Machado by even 2% then it's well worth the money.

I wonder if Hahn already knows Harper is going to be a Dodger so now he's focusing on Machado with this move.

I don't think it really moves the needle that much, but it doesn't hurt.
