My hunch is that there actually still isn’t an offer, there will be one presented soon, and Yankees will not be first to make the offer, instead try to bridge the gap as closely as possible.

This is going to be a long fucking day.  I just need something, anything to scratch that itch.  I’m literally fiending for some Machado rumors.

I’m trying to stay level headed about all of this but it’s seemed like the whitesox have been in the back burner as far as the rumors go lately, which could be a really good thing

Gotcha, and fully agree.  Definitely seems like a plant on Machado’s side unless Manny immediately called up all his buddies last night and told them this and then they somehow called Bowden this morning to tell him.

It's been pretty well know from the beginning if the offers were similar, he' s going to the Yankees. So this isn't news at all.

No doubt, though I have wondered if Hal’s comments about the Johnny Hustle stuff “not playing here” created any sort of animosity towards the organization.  These guys all have massive egos and it’s not far-fetched to think Manny didn’t take that comment too well, especially if the Sox & Phillies have been buttering him up and telling him he’s the best at everything.

Well, as it looks like Machado wants to be a Yankee, I am sure they will offer something close enough to get a deal done. Harper, meanwhile, has been waiting, which suggests that he is waiting for someone (hopefully the Dodgers, please not the Cubs) to make a couple predicate moves before signing.

SoxFest should be fun when Hahn and KW get to talk about the wonderful offseason additions of Nova, McCann and Colome.

Macado Odds at BetDSI:

Yankees -130

Phillies +250

White Sox +300

Field +450

 

This is by the far the "best odds" the offshore sportsbooks have given the Sox of signing either of the big two.  With that being said I know they have very low limits on these mlb futures and that likely means their handicappers probably put very little time into the oddsmaking.  

This whole thing comes down to the fact that if the White Sox want either the understanding needs to be that the contract will be a terrible one from Day 1 if they think they are on even footing with anyone except maybe the Phillies they should never have stepped into the ring.

True, but this also comes across as a agent leak to up the other offers from the Sox and Phillies.
