I could see boras plants. He likes to deal with owners and stoke with their emotional desire to make big splashes. This plays with fan expectation.

It's a real leak from excited owner or whatever to that group.

Not machado related but if I was phillies I would not be thrilled with paying late career arrietta and keuchel.

Keuchel at this point could be getting a 1 year deal for all we know though.

 

I think Bob and Jon were just waiting until we got to 300 pages to start tweeting out stuff again.

They can have Harper, Keuchel, and Kimbrel...  if we get Machado, Gray, and Pollock.

I'm not panicking about this, and I think we sign him eventually, but at this point, I no longer put any stock in it happening any time soon.

Am I being too cynical in thinking this could be the Phillies trying to misdirect the Sox?  Leak to the media that the Phillies are focusing now on those other players to make the Sox think that their offer to Machado is good, when the Phillies have actually just made a larger offer to Machado?

If Sox got Machado, would it make sense to take on a lot of Greinke salary while not giving up top 100 prospects?
