January 15, 20197 yr these are either plants or Machado is very close to signing somewhere besides Philadelphia

I wonder how much that plays into the Phillies preference (Harper vs. Machado) if signing both is not a realistic option. Edited January 15, 20197 yr by lockwood243

Tough division though. Agreed, I'm more impressed at how tough that division will be come next season. Should be a great race.

He likes to deal with owners and stoke with their emotional desire to make big splashes. This plays with fan expectation. OR It's a real leak from excited owner or whatever to that group.

January 15, 20197 yr Not machado related but if I was phillies I would not be thrilled with paying late career arrietta and keuchel. Keuchel at this point could be getting a 1 year deal for all we know though.
January 15, 20197 yr I think Bob and Jon were just waiting until we got to 300 pages to start tweeting out stuff again.
January 15, 20197 yr They can have Harper, Keuchel, and Kimbrel... if we get Machado, Gray, and Pollock.
January 15, 20197 yr just posting to get the post number and pages up. Have nothing to add other than this is an amusing thread. It would be funny to look back at this thread this summer, if Sox get Machado.
January 15, 20197 yr I really don't understand how this dogshit publication survived the financial obliteration of its parent company. It makes me sad, though.

January 15, 20197 yr I really think this could happen either later tonight or tomorrow. It seems like we're finally getting to the finish line.

I'm not panicking about this, and I think we sign him eventually, but at this point, I no longer put any stock in it happening any time soon.

January 15, 20197 yr Am I being too cynical in thinking this could be the Phillies trying to misdirect the Sox? Leak to the media that the Phillies are focusing now on those other players to make the Sox think that their offer to Machado is good, when the Phillies have actually just made a larger offer to Machado?
January 15, 20197 yr If Sox got Machado, would it make sense to take on a lot of Greinke salary while not giving up top 100 prospects?
