January 5, 20197 yr The way this conversation is going you would think they are all sitting at a table right now staring at each other and making offers back and forth, when in all likelihood, they are sitting at home eating chicken wings and not thinking about this for like a week.

January 5, 20197 yr Remember a 250 million offer from Yankeees is worth substantially less in NYC because of their state tax. The White Sox will get it done.

January 5, 20197 yr I don’t recall which thread we discussing White Sox Dave, but good god I’ve never been more embarrassed to say I’m from Chicago than after this video:

I don’t think the Angels would trade Trout even if I think they should. And I don’t believe Philly has the ammo to pull off such a trade off. Like does Hoskins, Sanchez, & Medina even start a conversation? That’s their best young player who’s still controllable for quite some time plus their top two prospects. I don’t think that’s even close enough to get a dialogue going.

I meant trading away high-value positional strength in the minors. Like Sox trading our top pitching or outfield depth...any prospect is expendable for trout is kinda how I meant it.
January 5, 20197 yr Also, not that anyone should care, but I’ve switched my preference to Machado over Harper. Despite feeling strongly about what Bryce could represent for the franchise, several posters here have made compelling cases for Manny and the objective side of me agrees if it has to come down to one. That being said, I would still somehow love to land both, but am willing to admit it’s a long shot.

Thanks, answer I was looking for.
January 5, 20197 yr I think trout leaves because the Angels are stuck in neutral and he should be the MLB poster boy and NY or Philly may give him that.
January 5, 20197 yr This is huge. And could explain why things are progessing slowly with Manny in Miami...
January 5, 20197 yr If I were the Angels and my team was struggling prior to Trout's Free agency, I'd trade him at the break and get a HELL of a lot back from it. Jeez, can you imagine that? On Machado: Mildly surprised that he didn't sign anywhere in the first week of January, but I expect him to sign this upcoming week. That, to me, was always the prime point. I figured he'd sign in the second week or possibly first.
