    It seems to me, and I could be wrong, but ever since Renteria gave him that day off after hitting 2 homers (despite an actual day off the day after), he's been average.

    Reminds me of 2017 actually. Record wasn't good, but the players who mattered were playing well, and they were pretty competitive even in losing efforts (plus all those Rickys Boys Don't Quit comebacks and walk-offs)
