7/21- Sox at Rays, 12:10, NBCSC

Seeing Dylan Cease jack his pitch count up in each of his three starts, is exactly how I had imagined it would look when he was constantly doing it in Charlotte. It's actually stunning how many 0-2/1-2 counts turn into full counts and 7+ pitch AB's. He has at least one per inning and if he does not get that hitter... stress inning upcoming.

Renteria, Steverson, and the entire coaching staff should be sent packing at the end of the season.  But we all know it won’t happen.

  • He really is just a waste right now

If you can’t have a sense of humor after seven terrible seasons...realistically, what other coping mechanism besides turning off the game can people choose?

His issue is when he misses, he misses by a huge amount. Not going to get a lot of swing and misses if you’re 18 inches off the plate

Watching these guys foul off pitch after pitch... it's like a trip to the dentist.

Gonna have to sit through the growing pains that's for sure.

Cease way too many full counts

Not even close on these balls. This is the stuff he needed to master in AAA.

Cease throws so many pitches

He’s Rich Harden

It seems like Cease has a hard time getting over the top of his pitches. Perhaps he should start with his hands higher rather than going from stretch with the ball at his dick and then coming up again

Yup. You sort of saw that coming, eh?

Needs more time at Charlotte, he’s not ready yet.

Welcome to the big leagues Cease. Too bad you were rushed.  If you can’t throw your fastball near the plate, you’re going to get killed.

0-2 pitch right down the middle!

Cant control your fastball then you cant pitch in the majors....

Well if he has the career Harden did I wouldn't complain. Harden struggled a ton with control early on but ended up harnessing it quite a bit

Still no outs a struggle. With our offense.

5 straight strikes after homer

Promote Robert! Let him struggle here for a little so he's ready to be a force next summer!

Don't promote Cease! He isn't quite ready!

Can't have it both ways. Let Cease work on some things here.

I was just gonna say that. It's all part of the process.

Cease will be a good one someday, but he wasn't exactly having a great season in Charlotte this year. Hopefully this is just good first year experience and he'll be better for it in 2020.

I hate when catchers double up the change.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Dylan was always a control pitcher in minors up until this year. How does your command just leave you?

You're wrong. Command has always been an issue for Cease.

Trying to throw too hard. Gripping a different baseball. Confidence.

Who else can the Sox rush up from the minors to be a savior?  LOL
