He took a protect swing on that for some reason

Had to be looking breaking ball/change.

  • Get a god damn win

  • Unfortunately the weather goes both ways. Healy probably has a 3 run homer in the 3rd if the ball carried better.

Oh well, can’t win em all.   Keuchel was awesome and the Sox caught a couple of bad breaks.

same shit he did last night he was looking fastball and couldn't adjust.

he's cheating, we should probably get used to it.

nah he's cheating to catch up to fastballs.  it's been working for him so far.  we'll see what happens when the book is updated on him.

No, I meant on the fastball that he fouled off.

Today was a tough match up for us. Milwaukee can pitch and play D.

every now and then with runners in scoring position.. abreu turns into a nervous virgin at the plate...

that was one of those moments.

Renteria's REALLY going to insert Lail into THIS game, with just a one run deficit???

Grandal walk, Eloy double, McCann 3 run homer. It's going to be awesome

Might as well let Keuchel go another inning.

This game is on CRUISE CONTROL.

And we fortunately avoided a LAIL appearance.

It may work for players individually, but the batting approach of this team may be a real issue for them down the line. When they run into a good SP, they never can get them out early, or even on time, because they see so few pitches.

In the regular season you can eat the occasional loses and be fine, but in the playoffs, especially with the extra rest, you are facing an All Star caliber SP 40-60% of the time, and if you are letting those SPs go deep, that also means you are only facing the best bullpen guys. As you get deep in the playoffs, those best bullpen guys quickly become unhittable bullpen guys.

Not really sure if there is a way to fix it at this point either. Most of our position players are locked in for years now, and it seems tough for all of them to switch their approach en masse (and risky, since the approach obviously works for a lot of these guys)

That’s what I’m thinking at least start the inning until he lets up a hit or walk

DK has been a staff saver so far.

Awesome work by Keuchle tonight. Really been fantastic to start this season, awesome to see.

I was wrong about him being washed...so far.

Grandal, EE and Madrigal making contact were supposed to mitigate some of those bad tendencies.

I mean, we're still one of the leading offenses in MLB, despite this game.

not our night.

He has to elevate the ball there. This is frustrating

^^

Brewers have to decide if they want to go to Phelps, then Hader....or Hader for two full innings.

Yet another tailor-made double play ball, this is just not their night so far.

Grandal was a huge add because of this, but there is a difference between "seeing pitches" and "not striking out." Madrigal does the latter, not the former, mainly by making contact so early that he doesn't have a chance to strike out.

I think in the regular season this is a viable approach and can still produce a great offense. I am worried the nature of playoffs makes it much more exploitable there.

Keuchel, Brett Anderson, Houser 3 of top 5 groundball rates in MLB.

Engel should be running for him here

I meant EE, he gets professional at-bats when he's on a really hot streak and locked in on the fastball.
