Look like he beat the throw anyway. The throw was shitty and slow. Don't fall for Stones narrative.

Seriously, for unlawful carnal knowledge fangraphs. Bottom line is David Stearns and Farhan Zaidi have winning records and playoff success as General Managers, and Rick Hahn has one of the worst

Is Grandal breaking in a new mitt?  I mean how the fuck do you drop a flip.

How in the fuck can you watch madrigal on the bases and grandal trying to catch a ball all night long and pin this on the manager...

Cordero over Colome potty mouth

The overreactions after losses are the best.

You would think people would realize in baseball, even the good teams are going to lose a lot of games, and they are going to have losses that are ugly like this one.  It happens - you move on and know that in the long run of the season, the talent prevails and this team has that (its why they have the record they do).

Grandal has these lazy effort moments that are maddening. I did not see that in his scouting report when we signed him.

Not the first time he loses focus and quits on the play.

Unacceptable.

Yep

Struck out 13 times against 5 pitchers.  Nicks shitty base running cost them nothing.  Moncada wasnt going to drive him in.

Tyler flowersesque ending

I put it on rewind a few times.. he looked safe.

he gives up runs in almost every outing

Yeah cause he pitches almost every game. If you throw a guy out there every day when he's not meant to be, why would you expect good results? Cordero isn't great, but what exactly is the alternative?

Oh come on, that game was easily the ugliest game of the year. You had bad base running, terrible defense and a player gave up a free base because he sat on the rail.

Edit: Read fathom's post and forgot about the crap with the Dodgers... especially catching the ball in that playoff series. Ugh.

Last week when he was too busy looking into the dugout while the ball was going past him at home plate.

Blame Grandal for the lazy drop, but the whole squad lost this one.  Bad pen, stupid base running, terrible ABs in big spots, lazy nonchalant lackadaisical defense, stupid managerial decisions.  They did not play like they were ready at all.

Time to bench quite a few players

Also dropped a foul ball in the 8th. McCann needs to catch tomorrow.

Im pretty sure most of us were watching on tv not listening to Stone on the radio.

He dropped the ball, it was a screw up.

It was harder than it looked. It was a quick low throw and Cordero was so close he didn't have much time to react to it.

That Grandal, he sure can frame!

But his bat flips are great! Totally worth paying him the GDP of Palau!

If Cordero is what we have for that situation we aint going anywhere in the playoffs.

Our bullpen is a lot of smoke and mirrors.

Would have been close, as Cordero took his time just like some of his teammates did tonight also.

Grandal has not been impressive as a catcher most of this season, seems slow and lazy. McCann should be catching most days, and I would sure rather see Grandal at DH over EE. I also think the Mazara experiment needs to be put on hold - I have never seen a player watch more good pitches go by.

I do not mind losing but you can't lose games like tonight.

Evan Marshall was brutal tonight. Throwing pitches right down the middle on 2 strike counts.

Jimmy Cordero has no clue where the ball is going.

Grandal was just putrid on defense and calling pitches tonight.

The team lost focus tonight

Watch closer because he was going to be safe anyway.

Uh oh - Is Boylen the new Sox manager?

What started all of this were short outings by the starters which led to a spent bullpen comprised of overachieving pitchers. I think this team will make the playoffs but not mulch else

Its 1 loss, they are in first place with a really young core. Shitty things happen, they need to learn not to take games like this for granted.

T.A. starting the game off with a double and no one driving him in was a precursor.
