September 27, 20205 yr His slider is unhittable with the 100 mph gas. If he can develop a 3rd pitch he’s going to be very very tough in the rotation for years to come
September 27, 20205 yr my god... with him and bummer? that some sick bullpen action. I could see crochet being the closer eventually.

He didn’t pitch bad as a starter and great as a reliever ala Ian Hamilton. He also didn’t throw a 100 until Fall ball last year. I was worried about a potential relief profile when drafted, but I am not as worried about it now.

I'm mean I'd love for him to be the next Randy Johnson - it's just unusual.

September 27, 20205 yr I posted back when he was drafted, Jim Callis said had there been a College Baseball season, Crochet wouldn’t have been available at 11. Assuming his arm didn’t fall off, he appears to be correct.
September 27, 20205 yr I find it crazy that some are sitting here watching Crochet in the majors dominating batters during a division race after missing his junior year and no minor leagues... and you are putting a ceiling on what he can do? Based on a college season none of us watched?

But just because you guys are like little children that opened their toy for christmas... doesn't make it reality.
September 27, 20205 yr These observations from Chris O'Leary are a bit sobering. Hopefully Sox staff can help him with his pitching mechanics so his career is not cut short due to injury. — Chris O'Leary | Baseball (@thepainguy) September 19, 2020 See how Garrett Crochet's pitching arm is -- at best -- FLAT and not UP when it starts to come under load? That's bad. But the White Sox are handling him correctly, bringing him up quickly in order to maximize the time in which they can get value before the injuries start. pic.twitter.com/ZiNZTxa8fp — Chris O'Leary | Baseball (@thepainguy) September 19, 2020

I don’t think anyone is saying he’s going to throw max velo every pitch as a starter but he also hasn’t even had a chance to develop yet and you are acting like he’s a finished product.
