Worried about being healthy?  Here’s what Ricky did tonight: Had Giolito throw 119 pitches in his last start before the playoffs Had Heuer pitch again after throwing two innings yesterd

Ruiz and Gio just pitched back to back the highest leverage innings of the season.  Did I already post this?  You can only laugh to keep from crying.

  • This was the 13th game in a row. Guys are tired and there are no opportunities to catch a breather, let some soreness work itself out, or have a day to clear your head by not going to the ballpark.  I

I would've liked to see Crochet there. At 110, I think I would've taken my chances with Crochet and his 102 mph fastball especially in that scenario where they needed a strikeout

And we’re just going to leave Giolito out there til he dies, apparently. There is a reason I’m OK with more losing, and it’s to get Renteria fired.

This is freaking insane. We’re seeing Renteria just implode.

Well this sucks.

Just... why?

SoxTalk wants pitchers to go more than 5 innings.

SoxTalk gets mad when pitchers go more than five

One poster said take him out after 45 pitches or he’ll get injured.

How about Grandal and Mazara

September

Luis Robert: 6-67, 27 K's
Yoan Moncada: 10-63, 26 K's
James McCann: 6-33, 11 K's
Edwin Encarnacion: 9-55, 18 K's
Yasmani Grandal: 14-58, 19 K's
Nomar Mazara: 11-56, 20 K's

114 pitches.  Leaving Gio in is stupid.

At least 150 pitches.

This is why I don't buy that. I think the egotistical pitching coach calls these pitches and it's garbage

Nothing like making him throw 120 pitches 5 days before the playoffs

It Sounds strange but imo robert is not aggressive enough. Long term you want to improve his plate discipline but right now his pitch recognition is what it is and imo robert tries to show false patience here by waiting a little longer to see the ball better and then being late on the FB.

Javier baez had that too, the Cubs had one season where the Cubs tried to make him more patient and his chase rate slightly dropped but so did his zone swing.

Robert needs to start guessing again and swing before he has fully recognized it.

That isnt a great long term strategy but at least he would be all over the FB again even though he would look silly at times.

If Crochet isnt warming to enter why is no one else up?

Hes just stretching him out for the playoffs.  Wont be rickeys fault if his arm falls off

He’s losing his touch on pitches.

one poster saud take him out after 45 pitches.

There is no way you let him go almost 120 pitches right before the postseason. They’ve treated the last week of games like exhibitions and now treating it like a World Series game.

120 pitches, Dusty Renteria....did the melatonin kick in for RR this inning?

I want Sox pitchers to go more than 5 innings

I don't want them to at the expense of 120 pitches

See the difference?

I’ve just had it with this team. No energy and no drive whatsoever.

Maybe he really did fall asleep in the dugout.  Would we be able to tell the difference?

He Gone

He's gotta come back for the 7th, right? Needs another chance for the win...

The Sox next 6 hitters:

Engel, Madrigal, Anderson, Moncada, Abreu, Jimenez

4 are good, the rest are not. They have to do it here

Everybody was talking about accepting some losses after the clinch so we can set up our rotation for the playoffs. In what fucking universe does that mean letting one of our top 2 pitchers throw 119 pitches? I can’t believe Ricky’s a candidate for manager of the year.
