So does that mean Hasler or Teaford has the inside track or would they consider an external hire?

I think they’re going outside and keeping everything else the same.

It was good overall, I actually came away a bit more positive on him (and I'm firmly in the "pissed at this hire" camp). They asked him all the usual stuff ie how he will handle bat flips etc. He

That’s immensely disappointing but not surprising at all.  The fact La Russa is preventing us from getting a young & upcoming pitching coach really sucks.  Fuck Reinsdorf.

  • Why would any Sox fan want to waste a year of contention having the team have a mutiny during the season?  Honestly it seems some people on here are going to root for the Sox to lose this year just to

Do you know if it will be a Rick Hahn hire and not a TLR one?

From TLR’s interview with the MLB Network today, it sounds like It will be a Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams hire but I will let James answer that one.

It sounds like Hahn and Kenny will pick but they didn't pick the manager so who knows.

Gotta love it when the organization is so dysfunctional that even the insiders are just like "beats me" *shrug*

Thanks!  Really hope Hahn & KW get to make this decision as I think it will the biggest near term ramifications for us of any of the coaching roles.

Only if the manager listens to them.

I meant from a major league development standpoint.  As long as Cease, Lopez, etc. listen to the new pitching coach he can be impactful regardless of TLR.

Not if he is giving them different instruction.

I think the White Sox want to keep Zaleski in the minors

This makes the most sense to me, still has a bright future

Didn't know the Michigan/LAD guy before today by name and now I'm all in

I, too, saw the TLR interview...seems balanced and contemporary, I'm excited, I think everyone has to relax about this being his team and not Hahn's

I'd still like to see Ozzie Guillen given a chance as bench coach.    I know Hahn had said no to manager.....but he never said he wouldn't be on the staff and I think he'd be a great addition!

This is true. I tweeted it out yesterday. Hopefully it happens if they can't land Chris Fetter

Is Fetter a realistic option? Remember reading the article on him in January on The Athletic

They've talked to him. I'm not sure he'll leave Michigan though.

I know 99.9% of fans would have never heard of Fetter, but that's the type of hire that would make me feel so much better about the TLR hire.

Same, he'd be perfect.

Fe[tt]er has had a lot of interest recently, but I think the poster Orlando mentioned the state of college athletics. Baseball programs are going to be in a lot worse shape than football or basketball, and add to that it's a big ten program and not SEC and you are multiplying that pressure. Even if the TLR pairing isn't ideal, I could see it actually being an opportune time to pry him from college program.

edit: and it's clear I'll never get his name right. FETTER. FETTER. It's better to be FETTER

Another hire I'd be very pumped about.

I've, half jokingly, thought of this

Wonder if he'd even be up for it

In terms of pitching coach, I love all the names I see, but the Michigan guy is my favorite

There goes Fetter. Hinch and now Fetter, shaping up to be a good staff in Detroit. What could have been on the South Side, perhaps?

More upset about this than Larussa. Sox had all the pieces set and then Reinsdorf took a piss.

But I'm glad all the worst people in the org are happy.

That really sucks and could easily be a casualty of La Russa.

Who is happy other than Jerry?

Hahn got neutered.

Maybe, or he just doesn’t want to leave Michigan. No shortage of young pitching to coach and mold in Detroit.

Jon Morosi reported that he’d be with Hinch in Chicago as well.
