Wow, if the Sox figure out a way to put both of those kids into the system in 13 months, that replaces a lot of graduating talent and gives them some future waves to add on with, or even deal from if

This is a pretty damning indictment.   Trading the funds made no sense at the time.

  • Yea. They should have signed the left handed version instead.

Does this mean no Colas?

Wonder what his ETA is

Unless he is willing to wait until Jan of 2022, yes.

Early Christmas gift for us White Sox fans!

2022 or 2023 would be my guess.  He's 23 years old. Sox signed Eaton to a 1 year deal with a team option for 2022.  I imagine Cespedes takes over before the end of that contract.

WOW! Didn't realize he's just about ready now

I got my years mixed up. Meant 2022 or 2023.

@Y2Jimmy0 - Any sense if this is true?  Seems far fetched Colas would wait another year to sign with the Sox, but then again maybe there are no teams left willing to pay what he’s looking for?

It's possible but that's a long time to not play for Colas. On the other hand, teams are out of $$ in this period.

Wow, if the Sox figure out a way to put both of those kids into the system in 13 months, that replaces a lot of graduating talent and gives them some future waves to add on with, or even deal from if needed.  Much respect to Paddy if he was able to rebalance both Colas and Cespedes with the changes that just happened to the signing periods.

Landing Cespedes is a big move in and of itself.

If Hamburger is right, than Marco Paddy is making big time moves.

Could he sign a one year deal to play in Japan or somewhere?

5'9" and 205, thats a strong little guy

Then again, thinking about this the other way, it means they still had a significant amount of cap space in a class that was supposed to begin in less than 7 months.

Love this move. A much needed shot in the arm on the position player side of things for the minors.

Just checked his brother's height and he's listed at 5'10. Talk about another strong guy.
