So....uh.....kopech doesn’t look terrible

He looks as advertised. Only makes that injury + pandemic more frustrating

I think this is the perfect game to give Kopech 3 innings if he is pitching well.

Tony may keep him in four so he gets the all important Save.

Did he always pitch out of the stretch?

No

Kopech has to end up being stretched into a starter sooner vs later. If his arm holds up - he is so freaking special.

Who leaves the rotation assuming Cease performs well enough for 5th starter role?  Kopech could be even more useful in the bullpen IMO if used properly, which so far I don't know if TLR is capable of.

Not really the stretch, but I don’t think he went back to first before

Topping out at 96? Hopefully that’s by design

They had a 6 run lead when he entered so that is out the window.

That's quite the assumption

he was hitting triple digits his last outing, though I might be confusing him with Crochet

Tony doesn't care about statistics...Steve said so, or was it Jason?  I wasn't paying attention fully, trying to figure out Soxmath.

I don’t think that’s true with a reliever going 3+ to close

I don’t really care - Kopech is a future copy young award winner. But I get it. And I don’t have an issue doing this for part of this year - because he is coming back from injury and an opt out - so managing his innings is key. But you can’t waste this type of arm in a pen.

Edit: not trying to be sarcastic. Either way I suspect it will work itself out. Whether we like it or not - people are going to get hurt and or not perform.

So send him down now to build up his arm because you assume Cease will fail?

Doesn't feel like he's had 8 walks already this yr

Consistently 99

This velocity from Kopech is a bit concerning but his stuff still looks as outrageous as ever. 100 innings from Kopech out of the bullpen this year and he'll be the most valuable reliever in the game.

Rodon and Kopech are throwing a ton of pitches because they are hittable at this point tonight. Crazy stuff for both.

You learn something new every day I guess!

Different guns and the one in Anaheim seemed a little hot.

This year only because of switch to pen. If he starts, he will go back to the wind up.

Yeah I just checked, score is irrelevant if they pitch 3+

I’m not worried - The run on that heater was nice. My guess is he is just pitching (vs throwing). Maybe he still listening to some of Coop’s advice.
