6/11 Extra Innings Not a Bummer - And that's a 5-4 White Sox Winner!!!!!

Featured Replies

Nice games by Bummer, Mendick and Engel. Lucas pitched well enough.

Glad they pulled it out.

Danny Dimes clutched up

Thank you to that ump - he saved us.

Bummer control still bad - on that last out of the game he missed by a lot.

I'm giving everything that happened after the rain delay a "move on to tmr" pass.  That was some strange shit to try and play through.  Good job to Mendick keeping focus on that last play.

Yup, I don't think you're supposed to try and throw a backdoor slider on 1-2. That was supposed to be a backfoot slider.

yeah he was trying to throw that inside and it ended up getting a lot of plate on the outer half - right where schoop likes it.

luckily mendick was playing up the middle trying to hold the runner.

that was a pretty well played game by both sides throughout. Sox didn't hit well but the defense was pretty solid.  I guess the drop at 2B early from Detroit but that was a tough play imo with the runner coming in at the glove.

I thought that was a hit when it came off Schoop's bat.  Nice play by Danny.

The resiliency of this team after injuries is very impressive.

Tony (perhaps Katz as well, not sure Katz' say or input) did well managing the bullpen tonight.

Stretching Crochet 2 innings really helped, let him work out of a walk.

For Hendriks, rain was the issue. If he felt / told Tony/Ethan he was OK after the delay, and pitched well in warmups, made sense to let him go.

Glad Tony showed confidence with Bummer, letting him stay after the walk, not pulling him for Ruiz (who warmed up) when the righty Schoop was up.

Happy about the win/worried about the bullpen.  Not sure if they talked about the weather tomorrow afternoon, but it’s looking pretty iffy. Wouldn’t mind getting the pen a day off.

I was thinking about Ruiz too.  Hendriks issue was starting Cameron off with a fat pitch.  He can be too courageous for his own good.

ruiz was coming in if we didn't score

tony said the other day now that Crochett is flashing his full arsenal they want to let him go multi innings.  Tony is a keen baseball mind he gets what the Sox are trying to do with Garrett long term and he's not afraid to try it out in real time in a year he has to win to keep his job.  That's a key difference from Rickie, who almost certainly would have went to Bummer there in the 8th, which in tonight's game would have been potentially very bad given the rain delay.

For better or worse they hired TLR because has has gravitas to make those decisions and not look back.

Lol imagine praising larussa bullpen usage over renteria while renteria had arguably the best bullpen in baseball with lesser arms than larussa who's bullpen has under performed mightily. Sox blew one lead after the 7th last year.

They hired larussa because  the owner told them to. No other reason.

The owner made a good decision.

Looks like Billy is healthy enough to dance, hopefully he can return soon.

Is Jose still doing that thing with Tony's breast after a win?

After Hendriks threw one pitch to Miguel Cabrera, the umpires called for the tarp, setting the delay in motion. Hendriks said he kept warm walking around and working his arm, but he gave up a single to Cabrera after the delay and then the homer.

Bummer, coming off a hard-luck outing against the Blue Jays, “pitched like a champion,” manager Tony La Russa said.

“This is what the bullpen does when one guy falters a little bit,” Hendriks said. “We have the next guy in line to pick him up.”

That was a memorable ball game with Mendick basically laying claim to the second base job a day after Madrigal went down. What a clutch catch and throw under pressure. No need to make any drastic trades for a second basemen, at least not at this point.  w

Mercedes needs to start hitting. I am not giving up on Yermin yet, but his slump has lasted longer than I anticipated.  Personally, I 'd like to see more HR from the DH spot in the line-up, especially if he is not hitting for average any more.

Crochet has given up 1 ER in his whole damn career

Most wins against losing teams 28.

As it should be

Maybe the strike zone on TV was wrong, because those strike calls Bummer got in the 10th didn't even make the worst missed calls list.
