They aren’t being passive at all.

Which is great to hear!  I know we all want a deal to happen ASAP, but at the same time we don’t want to allow desperation to force Hahn into making a bad deal.

  • Nobody believes that. You'd be complaining about the lack of prospects or whatever part of the team that was lowest performing.  If you were dating Kate Upton you'd be complaining about the fact

So Rick Hahn really is going to be passive on all this isn't he?

The only rumors so far are that the asks are ridiculous.  I am OK with waiting this out and seeing who else becomes sellers if that is really the case.

IMO, this lineup needs the help way more over the next month than they are likely to at the trade deadline since some people will be returning or close to it by that time, so you'd get way more value out of an offensive contributor over the next few weeks than you would by waiting. The need right now actually justifies paying more. Unless for some reason you thought there was a high chance of your starting pitching falling apart, that is.

Unless you want to find out who the next Tatis is, or are OK with it happening, that's not really true.

Because a trade hasn't been completed on June 25th? No.

What are you competing for in the next few weeks? Because those next "few weeks" consist of Seattle, Minnesota, Detroit, Minnesota, Baltimore. Then the ASB. At that point you're at July 16th.

1. The Sox do have people returning or planning to, but that's still up in the air. Everyday that goes by, that picture becomes clearer of when they will infact be back

2. Something else could happen. Given the Sox limited resources to make a deal, what happens if they lose a SP for the season? With Eloy and Robert poised to return, do you use the bullets you were going to spend on Escobar for an arm on July 20th? Don't know..but waiting helps make that puzzle easier to figure

3. I just don't see them collapsing so badly to the Indians over the next few weeks. Yes, this team is 100% hurting right now and the lineup is pretty week. You also have a number of top performers in slumps that I'm hopeful they break out of against some bad teams.

Lastly, as others have mentioned, I don't think Hahn is being "passive" I think he's monitoring the market and being the Sox normally aggressive self, but is obviously going to try and make the right deal. And the key is he has some cushion to wait if need be.

It’s a weird feeling but for first time since the kw honeymoon phase I just feel like Sox got this.

We should trade the strength and conditioning coach.

Right on! Our strength and conditioning coaches and staff suck! It's ridiculous how many injuries our players had this season thus far.

I mean, just an all-time take by Jerksticks here. The timing was ELECTRIC.

1. Turn those around. After the AS break the Sox get the Astros (joy!), a weak series against the Twins, the Brewers, Royals, and into August - where they have 28 games scheduled and 21 of them are against teams that are above .500. Obviously anything can happen, but it will be very difficult to gain ground over that 7 week period even if Cleveland also has a rough schedule. Plus, Cleveland will get people back eventually too. They have a cushion right now, but it is only 1 game in the loss column. This is a stretch where just fielding a decent lineup could provide really important separation.

2. Yes something else could happen. In fact something else almost certainly will. That is also exactly why now would have been the time to pay a premium price and fill at least one of these holes. This is our chance to get wins. Treading water against the weak teams will leave them going into the rough stretch in a weaker spot.

3. The Sox have gotten very lucky in actually getting wins out of these replacements, but you can’t honestly tell me you have confidence in Brian Goodwin hitting second regularly. An extra decent major leaguer in that lineup makes the whole lineup better and probably helps some people mentally with those slumps.

I think I have some credibility to cash in on saying “no don’t make a trade this is awful”, pretty much for the last decade in fact. So yeah, I’m willing to mostly take that risk.

That said, I would not under any circumstances trade the other Tatis brother.

It seems at times that our bullpen brings a can of gasoline and their own matches to the mound

But, we have three starters out and back up players  out too. If you make a deal for a major  RFer, CFer or 2bman  what does that mean for Robert, Jimenez or Madrigal? We sure are getting beat up the last week or so but it’s still early in the season. Too early to panic and start trading our prospects for a big name

Well, Escobar is a free agent after this year so who cares about 2022 with that?

If you trade for an OF, and they have control…that OF is your right fielder next  year! Or, what are the odds that Jiminez and Robert play 150 games in 2022? If we haven’t learned the lesson about having 4 starting quality OFs being useful this year, what will it take?

Escobar might be a reasonable trade target

Someone should make a thread about that, maybe Hahn will get the idea.

DBacks on verge of setting a new daily record, 24 consecutive road losses.

On pace for 45-117, record is still 120, the Tigers or early 60’s Mets.

Feels like an Escobar/Reddick/A.Cabrera trade is coming...

I’m not an “insider” for the Sox. I have a bit of an insight with the blue jays. Everything my guy is telling me is the Sox are going crazy. Expect something soon

Agreed...this has been unwatchable.

Fuck yes!  At this point, I’d be pushing very hard for an Escobar / Calhoun combo from the DBacks and save the rest of my chips for the bullpen.  Kole is about to start a rehab assignment for his hamstring injury, so he should be ready pretty soon.  Add those two plus Burger to the mix and you’ve suddenly transformed the lineup from a power perspective and can hopefully survive another month or so until Eloy & Robert come back.

Vs RHP | Vs LHP:

  1. Anderson, SS | Anderson, SS
  2. Lamb, DH* | Grandal, C#
  3. Moncada, 3B# | Moncada, 3B#
  4. Abreu, 1B | Abreu, 1B
  5. Calhoun, RF* | Vaughn, LF
  6. Grandal, C# | Escobar, 2B#
  7. Escobar, 2B# | Burger, DH
  8. Goodwin, CF* | Garcia#, RF
  9. Vaughn, LF | Goodwin, CF*
