At the same time, you can’t ignore the fact that so many Sox fans spent the offseason yelling “we have a ton of injury risks what are we going to do about having enough depth!!!!”

Eloy, Robert and Madrigal are always going to be considered significant injury risk players

He's just not that good.  Sox are very weak at the corners.  Weak roster.

What in the world were they thinking when they drafted a closer that high

That he was going to be an in season savior just like Sale in 2010...easier to draft one than pay or trade for one?

Same thing drafting guys like Ring and Poreda.

Should have looked more carefully at his brother’s history.

I spent the off-season saying exactly this! To this point, they withstood injuries better than I would have expected. But now, clearly, is the time for multiple additions from outside of the organization.

Okay, but the thing is, not every player is going to be good ALL season long. I remember Konerko saying that if you regularly have 3 good months in a baseball season, you are a good player.

The trick is to have enough players that can play at a high caliber level that can pick up the struggling guys.

BECAUSE of the injuries, almost half this  starting lineup regularly are AAA players...

Most of the teams in baseball have injuries. The Cubs are hurt and guys have stepped up. Guys won't be great all year but these guys have OPS' under 800 for a reason.

Anderson, Moncada, Grandal, Abreu, Vaughn, and Leury have enough talent in their bats to keep this offense moving. We've gotten solid production from Lamb and Hamilton. This offense should not look this bad for multiple weeks.

They really need to do a serious assessment of what’s wrong with Abreu and whether Robert can come back at anywhere near 90%.

The Indians’ injuries won’t allow a White Flag season, nor can or should it, but it seems they’re just going to have to be satisfied with hopefully making the playoffs and then getting some reinforcements for 2022-23 simply by spending money, since trade capital is slim and none.

They also need to figure out if Moncada is ever going to be as good as they thought he was going to be.

I feel sorry for the folks there that have to put up with this offensive "effort" AND country music.

Well to be fair they are playing both kinds of music, Country and Western.

And Eaton. And he’ll, no one knew about Moncada this year, if he or Rodon flopped you couldn’t be surprised.

The team has been decimated by injuries. Your not going to win too many games with how many injuries we have period. They are very lucky to be in 1st place still. Cleveland has been hit with injuries as well. We just need to hang in there until we make some moves and get most of the players back.

I don’t think there are many teams that have the depth to overcome what the Sox are dealing with injury and under-performance wise. But its not like it happened overnight, they need to make a move to get better.

They can't wait until Eloy and Robert come back. They have to do something by the deadline. The offense is depleted, and the bullpen, well, the bullpen is the bullpen.

We traded a pittance for James Shields and now Burdi will come up this year and we are the 2016 champs!

Burdi seemed like the most obvious TJS waiting to happen when I saw him at Louisville

TA has been on the IL now 3 consecutive seasons. Moncada was practically dying on the field last season and how he'd return from covid was uncertain, Eaton hadn't played 100 games in a year since leaving the Sox, etc etc etc. It was obvious all winter the Sox needed to add more position player depth.

I'm not so sure about that.

Leury?

Cleveland is in their rough stretch starting soon, the White Sox have a really rough stretch in July and especially August. If we don’t get some separation when Cleveland has to face Houston and Tampa, that sets them up to make a run in August.

I don't care if there's a 21 year old pitching like Aroldis Chapman, drafting a reliever with the 26th pick isn't ever the way to go.

Vaughn double off a righty

Leury?

Yes. He has sucked this year but as a number 9 guy he is fine when he is on.

Vaughn doubles against a righty, glad they didn’t send him down today.

Why does Collins have the neck skin of a 60 year old?

Leury isn't going to sink you, but entering this year he was at like 1 WAR in 500 career games. On a team that's supposedly World Series or bust, he isn't good enough to be the top backup at so many positions.

Burdi and Ruiz in the game do not help either. TLR threw the white flag early on this one.

Why not?

Naylor with a HR and Indians are within 1 run. 1 out in the 9th. Please don't fuck us Twins.
