abreu says he was ready to play tonight

Of course he was. That dope needs to learn to sit when he is unhealthy. He's been completely killing this team by playing through injuries.

he has sucked lately.. but compared to what else we have.......

I'd like them to shut Jose down and let him come back after the ASB...give Sheets some AB and see what we might have there.

Tony let's the players decide, too much deference IMO. Pedal to the metal, doesn't care if everyone is dead before the season ends. Thibodeau squared.

A player like Abreu who has had a track record of success in the majors will likely make adjustments and turn it around.

I think scouts have found a vulnerability in his swing or approach including perhaps his tendency to be late on outside high fastballs with 2 strikes on him.

Whatever the case, I think he will adjust.  Maybe he is pressing now and swinging to hard to hit a home run.  All he has to do is connect. His arms are like tree trunks. Meanwhile, he is gold glove quality D at first.  The other problem now is that neither Mercedes nor Vaughn have been providing him with much protection. We need ALL of them to rake.

If Jose is back I would like to see him DH for Twins series with Yaz at 1st and Collins catching.

.513 OPS in June. His bat in the middle of the lineup is definitely killing to team.

selfishness, nothing more

totally useless as an injured player with a jacked up knee and whatever else

a first rate organization would put his ass on the IL for a couple weeks

Totally disagree. Selfish is a guy who has to be feeling great to consider playing. Would rather just cash his check. This is a guy who wants to help the team win. It's up to the team to determine if he is not physically up to it, and do what they have to do.

Actually Tony is leaving it up to Jose according to Tony's post game the other day. Hahn needs to take charge here and have Jose rest a bit, at least a day or two, for health and performance. June isn't Willis Reed Game 7 time, it's one of an 162 game grind.

If Jose isn’t hitting the IL, wonder who is going to AAA for Sheets. Must be Gonzalez.

It could be Burdi. When Engel went back on the IL, they brought up Burdi instead of another position player so the bench has been a man short for a while now.

Going to guess with the way that Gonzalez has played in SSS, it is a pitcher that goes down

Enough of this macho, tough guy, toxic masculinity from Abreu. We don't need him playing if he is hurt. No need to play hero. Rest up and come back when healthy.

Yeah, forgot the sox have been playing a man short on the bench.
