I could be wrong but this feels like a "showcase" situation.  Let's face it, Lopez' trade value is non-existent right now. His record and ERA at AAA are abysmal.  My guess is we have him on the roster for 2 weeks and hope he pitches well enough in long/mid relief to get a team intrigued enough to take a flyer on him as a throw in on a trade.  If that doesn't happen by July 30, we DFA him and move on.  Just my opinion, I could be wrong..

Perhaps the Sox owe his agent a solid.

They could well be showcasing ReyLo as well.

The concept of starting a guy who is awful to showcase him as if teams can't go see him suck in AAA sure is weird

He has pitched well his time out, Working with Katz in person could help him as well.

Didn’t help him in spring training.

But in Spring Training there are 20+ pitchers in camp all getting advice.   At this point of the season, he may get more personalized help.

Because you bring in a new pitching coach and voila ! pitchers can make changes in everything they have been doing all theirs lives just like that right ?

Some guys can't do it. Some it may take a year, some a month and other's only days. Then there's the whole mental side of it ,going with something different to help you at the highest level when what you have done your life is what got you to the highest level.

Fuck I got tickets for the game Tuesday and was hoping the fat bastard was going to be dealing.

Hope they like what they saw!

That is my guess as well. To me, that was the only conceivable angle outside thinking Katz is a miracle worker.

Lopez still has some shine left from his prospect days, we needed innings in DH, and why not? I'd guess 75/25 he's traded before end of July.

ReyLo pitched decent. Was surprised to see him not get optioned last night tho. He’s likely unavailable until the weekend. Guess Sox really want to see if they can make a reliever out of him.
