In Defense of Leury

Leury's one of the best at what he does.  Don't ask him to do more though.

He plays 6 positions. At one point this summer, he was 2nd on the team in RBIs. Leury Garcia stans have a lot to be proud of. He’s grinded here for 9 years and this team is lucky to have him.

What a dream season for Leury Garcia stans. Ultimate utility player.

If they decided to bring him back...what would it take?  Great utility guys do pretty well on the open market.

It's weird to think about this but I had a revelation today that Leury is the longest tenured White Sox player on this team.  Been here since 2013.

I don't know about 'ultimate' - but pretty damn good. He's been one of my fave Sox for several years.

They mentioned it on the broadcast.  Was that the source of your revelation?

In defense of Leury he should never be fifth on the team in AB’s…

.....or 5th in RBI.

People on here get actually upset when Leury has success. I don't get some of our fanbase.

Lol.  No.  Was at the game today.  I thought it was Pito for the longest time but I looked at Leury's wikipedia page and he was on that god awful 2013 team.

Now that Anderson is coming back Garcia can start every game going forward in RF or 2B..................

Yeah...Tony has me nervous with that regular talk.  I hope we don't need to see much of Leury in the postseason.  He is a very good utility player but I want the regulars playing every day in playoff baseball.

Leury has put up a 94 wRC+ and 1.8 fWAR in 108 games. He's just barely below the threshhold of being good enough to be a starting middle infielder. In other words, he's about the best utility guy you can get, because anybody better is going to get a starting job somewhere.

Leury most certainly will start in playoffs, either at 2B, or beyond a full recovery allowing Engel to play as a regular starter, RF.

The RF hole has never been adequately addressed, with most here stating Eaton was a poor acquisition in December, both for likely poor production and health. Engel was considered the fourth OF heading into camp, and perhaps one day he can stay healthy enough to be a regular 3rd/4th OF, but it sadly hasn’t been this season.

I would rather have Leury in RF over Goodwin, especially for defense. I agree he shouldn’t be an everyday starter on a WS team, but it is what it is.
