Not really. They have a plan and didn't want to risk blowing it up by offering $18M to an injury waiting to happen so they could draft the 75th best player in this years draft.  That would have been r

Def the problem when going after good players.

I would love Verlander.  1/25 with a player option for year 2 for another 25.

I wonder how many years he wants to get in before he retires.

could you imagine LOL.  I'd love to see a player sign a contract with an opt out on July 25.  LOL

Sign with a bad team, if you're playing well, opt out and sign with a playoff contender

Wonder how he looks without spider junk. He had a career resurgence after going to the Astros.

As always, hard to see the Sox outbidding the Yankees, Astros, etc.

Prove us wrong, Sox.

Bob, I thought we were signing the guy from Zoolander.

So he wants Spring Training in Florida....can we relocate ours? lol

If true, this is great news about the budget Hahn is working with

I'm 100% serious when I say if it's that big of a deal to him.......go send him down to Florida with his own pitching coach, let him play on some high school field and put him on a program. You're going to be spending upwards of 20 million a season on him, what's a few hundred thousand to send him to Florida for 4-5 weeks?

It also should tell us there is something seriously wrong with Rodon, at least in the eyes of the Sox.

Hell yess totally agree. Hell - if he wants to do the roger clemens treatment I don't mind.

Verlander seems like a vintage KW move.  We at least know now matter what happens, it will be a short term thing.

Bob, can you please announce that the Sox are moving their Spring Training back to Florida?

The Sox have never trusted Rodon’s work ethic, plain and simple

I agree with this. Bob mentioned that the Sox had already moved on from Rodon at the end of the season.

While I wonder if he comes back from TJS in a spidertack-free world and is anywhere close to what he was before TJS, I won't be totally against it should it happen.

The cynic in me wonders if this is JR getting the "look, we tried" piece out there, but the optimist in me wonders if having TLR around is extra motivation for JR to spend.

Either way, it's fun to entertain the possibility.

Never is going to happen but it should indicate the budget could be higher than many expect.

Lots of teams may jack up price otherwise I'd say 1 yr at about Noah's rate . Now I'll guess 2/55M . I haven't seen what the pros say about it. Any guesses ?
