They had a chance to set up the rotation to avoid having Gio pitch in Colorado and didn't do it. Another failure by our drunk ass manager.

  • Yet he still stays in the game. No wonder these assholes never learn, there’s no accountability unless you homer on a 3-0 pitch

  • Tim Anderson took that a bit too literally

Maybe I should go back to watching Moneyball for the 26th time.

Any other baseball movies you’d recommend?

That last hit by Iglesias was on a 91 MPH fastball. Honestly Lucas has been a bit unlucky in his last 2 starts, but a lot of that is the product of the other teams just poking hits against him on his change up. His fastball isn't good enough to make them respect it so they end up sitting on his best pitch.

Yep and his breaking pitch isn’t sharp enough. He looks cooked this year.

Welp this ball game is over

I swear Giolito always bombs when he pitches on getaway day.

Haven’t watched it in ages - would be fun for the Big Hurt sighting.

I just don’t understand why some of these guys are supposed to be in their peak and they just lose their physical ability.

For starters he lost his velocity

His fastball isn’t much different from last year in terms of xwOBA…it’s his slider & change-up that are way worse.

Lucas Giolito was the worst pitcher in baseball....then he wasn't.....now he is again......Time to refinance?  Call Guaranteed Rate.

Giolito is one of the worst pitchers in baseball this year. The TLR delusion is ridiculous.

But the lack of velocity makes it way easier to sit on other pitches

And I loved Bernie Mac.  I'll admit it's not a great movie, but it's fun.

Giolito sucks! Trade him at the deadline.

If we are trying to hide Giolito in the rotation, then there's no point in the rest of this season.

How about Giolito just be better?

Doh - what a play.

With him the fastball has kind of been a show me pitch, especially after the sticky ban. With less to show due to lower velo, teams don't think he'll throw it later in the count and just sit on his off-speed pitches. His control on it has also been incredibly inconsistent this year.

Give him a chance to get better by having his next start against Oakland instead of at Colorado

Yea that’s the one with a Frank Thomas cameo that I was confusing Mr. 3000 for.

Easier to blame Tony and pretend that everything gets better. How about bringing in a better pitching coach for him?
