He was still a positive defensive and slightly positive offensive WAR player this year. How many of those guys do the Sox currently have ?

There's nothing wrong with throwing the ball into the runner. Throws are bad when you pull a guy away from the runner. You don't have to hit the base. Your job is to give the infielder a chance to make a natural move into the runner.
