It's probably just sweat and rosin as that's a pretty sticky combination. The way he does just makes it look super obnoxious.

Yeah, wet your long hair before you go to the mound and grab it between each pitch to get that grip. Every pitcher should start doing that, someone tell Giolito

He is collecting sweat from the back of his hair and then he dabs the rosin.  King of Juco showed a similar mixture with suntan lotion and rosin and it does improve your spin rate.  Its not as good as spidertack, but it works.

Cease does the same thing but he doesn't make it look like he's definitely got spider tack in his hair.

Remaining Sox Bench (last appearance date):

  • Leury Garcia (Saturday)
  • Romy Gonzalez (Sunday)
  • Yasmani Grandal (Saturday)
  • Gavin Sheets (Sunday)

Remaining Sox Bullpen (last appearance date):

  • Tanner Banks
  • Jake Diekman (Friday - 7 pitches)
  • Kendall Graveman ? (Saturday - 17 pitches)
  • Jose Ruiz ? (Sunday - 26 pitches)

Yeah he takes off his hat and rubs the front of his hair. Its pretty obvious most games.

The last time Liam pitched in a situation like this he gave up 3 runs to Cleveland.

The mystery of closers failing in non save situations scare me here.

If this turns into a bullpen game and it looks like it has, Cleveland definitely has a strong upper hand..

I love Harrison's defense today but I also loved Yolmer's gold glove defense....need some offense from Josh starting in the bottom of the 9th.

Hendriks here is fine. There can't be a save situation for the Sox. The problem is, you would love to have a strikeout guy pitching in the 10th if it makes it that far.

I'm just trying to understand why Lopez has not gone more than an inning all season. Was this not a guy that at one point was being considered as a starting pitcher??? He can't throw more than 15 pitches?

Given how league wide spin rates cratered and now are on the rise again, I think it's obvious pitchers found a spider tack equivalent that's more difficult for umps to check. You wouldn't see spin rate increases like this if all they were using is sweat and rosin.

Is that.....hair gel??

Straw is a much better hitter than his numbers show

And that's why you can't walk Straw cause even though he barrel'd it he flew out to center.

Seems like him and Hedges always have good at bats

That would be quite the commitment to cheating.

I watched that extra inning game they had with the Twins - they were impressive.

This ump really isn't giving anything out of the zone.

If he had McGuire as a battery mate, you'd have to consider it.

Hendriks is acting a bit strange on the mound

You can tell Liam is feeling good today cause he's throwing 99-100.

What a play by Moncada!

I honestly think Hendriks is pitching hurt, his posture looks all jacked up

Had an extra Red Bull before he came out

Great catch…amputation time
